Acer AL - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

I would try connecting your laptop to another monitor or tv. If you have no issues then you know the problem is your monitor. If the problem is the monitor, a new one can be found for around $100. If the video issue follows the laptop, you may have to upgrade laptops when you are able. Also, try another video cable to see if that helps.

You don't need to worry much about this I too had the same problem with my 5-8 year old monitor acer al1706.
I was worried and tried to find the answer on web I really didn't know what need to be done. Then what I did is just restarted my system many times and the problem solved.

Note: don't restart your computer very frequently just wait until it's booted.

I contacted ACER Tech services with this same issue, and they told me that it would need to be repaired. I have found that if you turn off the monitor, depress the far left button and power back on, the OSD doesn't display until you release the button. Not ideal but workable, Especially if your Monitor is out of warrantee like mine.

Good morning! if you decide to get an lcd i would suggest one with very 'low' response time. such as 8milliseconds or less, as it looks amazing nothing beats the richness of the colors in an lcd. best regards

This may not be a Monitor problem. So if you can try to get to test monitor on another computer. Check carefully the data cable to ensure there are no bent pins. If it turnout to be a monitor problem then at only 6 months -Acer should replace it. If the monitor works - you should have the graphics card on the computer checked out. If you feel you can do this - and you can- basic checks come back as another request.

I thinks your OSD Setting time set to high... Open on screen display on your monitor, go to OSD Settings and look for OSD hold time and setting to 10 seconds. If that doesn't work...reset to Factory Resettings.

If you have tried connecting and using the monitor on another PC and it works .... then it may be the connection (of the monitor to your PC), or the PC port that is not working. If you don't have another PC to test the monitor, disconnect the monitor, shut down your PC, connect the monitor, restart your PC ... and hope for the best.

Hello there and welcome to fixyaIf games on Pogo don't load for you, load very slowly, or give errors such as 'Please wait, Loading,' see below for information on the most common causes (and links to instructions on how to address them). It could be as simple as clearing your Java Cache or Browser Cache, or it could be related to other programs such as firewalls and anti-virus programsFirst, let's try to rule out some specific issues (If you're a Mac user, please try this FAQ.):
  • If you are trying to play one of our Flash games, like Poppit!, Word Whomp, Mahjong Safari, Family Feud, Claire Hart: Soul Searcher, just to list a few, and they will not load then you may need to install the latest version of Flash. To install the latest version of Flash simply go here and follow the instructions -
  • Does the game that won't load have a Weekly Challenge going on, especially on Wednesdays?
If you can rule the above issues out, here are the next troubleshooting steps to try: If Java is installed on your machine but not enabledIf you're still having issues and you're certain that Java is installed on your machine, it may be disabled. All mainstream browsers have an option for enabling Java, which ensures any applets that use it will function properly. For a complete list of per-browser instructions for enabling Java, visit's what to do if clearing your java cache/browser cache and making sure your Java is updated, doesn't resolve the issue.Anti-Virus Programs/Firewalls and PogoThe most common causes of problems that players encounter when playing our games are simply caused by anti-virus, firewall, ad blocking, and pop-up blocking software. The easiest way to determine if one or more of these is the cause of the problem is to simply disable them and see if the problem goes away. If the problem goes away, then the next step is to figure out how to configure the software to still protect your system without preventing you from playing our games. In this case, you should refer to the software's manual or help files for detailed instructions on how to make the desired changes to the software. Some common symptoms of this include:
  • "Cripes!" Errors
  • "Server too Busy" Errors
  • Cards disappear or do not appear
  • Other graphics do not appear or are distorted
  • "Game Loading" indicator never goes away
  • Profiles never appear
  • Table windows never open
There are also several types of maintenance steps that can be taken on a regular basis to try and prevent problems from occurring. This includes deleting Temporary Internet Files / Browser Cache and deleting Game Objects. We only officially support a few browsers as they are the most common and compatible with our site. They are: Internet Explorer 8 and 9, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari for Mac OS X (and later versions of these browsers as applicable). If you do a search on the help site for "Cache," you will find instructions on how to clear the cache for those browsers.
