I'm not just looking to remove the flat part of the base that the monitor rests on, but also the support arm that goes from the monitor to the base, so that I can wall mount the monitor. Any ideas?

Base is very firmly attached. Presumably "clips" referred to in previous answer are plastic sort of arms with ledges which on pushung together latches on to base ? there are 4 ? (two at ends, 2 on sides ?): how to release all at same time with only 2 hands ? What role does metal clip in centre play ?: (it does not seem to hold anything, but can be moved a little with screwdriver

For monitor or TV bases that have four clips, I found if two people each take two opposite clips, and use thumbs to push in the clips, we can pop the base off fairly easily. It is impossible with one person, since thumb and forefinger can't exert sufficient pressure on the clips.

I need to wall mount this also, i found away. Forget the base, that can stay on coz its attached to the arm. Concentrate on the arm. Where its attached to the monitor, pull the cover off, it comes off easy. Then you'll see to bolts either side. Take them off, and the washers. Below them you'll see 3 screws each side, just take the 3 from the left off, then it all comes out, put the 3 back in, put the black cover back on, you have the complete stand removed.

Normally once the base is on its on forever. But you should see little clips that the base uses to latch onto the monitor. You can use a flathead screwdriver and bend the clips inward till the base pops off. Still will be hard though to remove the base. Seems they made that base to stay on.

SOURCE: acer p221w monitor removing base

Since you have surely looked, it isn't held on with exposed screws.
Check to make sure that the rounded area that allows tilting is not part of the case but appears to be separable.
Most that are removable are held by a tongue and a fairly obvious release tab.

if you can't remove the base, just place the monitor in the carton on good padding and upside down.
Fill and cushion the sides well, mark the carton with 'This side up' and an arrow and hope there are no malicious handlers on the trip.

I've shipped numerous monitors of different sizes and types and have lost none of them to shipping damage.

Has my integrated video failed on my acer aspire am1100-b1401b?

Make sure your Acer works with a different monitor. Check Device Manager in the Windows Control panel and maybe update the monitor/graphics card driver.

Can't install base on acer monitor

I, too, struggled with the same issue; however, after a fairly exhaustive search of the Internet, I came across a review that provided the answer: Attach the base to the monitor as you have been doing, but this time, place both base and monitor on the floor--while the base is still flimsily attached to the monitor--and then push down on the monitor. It will secure itself in place. It may seem like you are going to break it, but you won't. It requires little pressure--far, far less than the way we have heretofore been trying to push or jam the base into the monitor. Again, the key is to place the base and monitor (upright position) on the floor, and gently but forcefully push down on the monitor, using both hands, one astride each corner of the monitor.

Taking stand off screen

The base can be removed by pressing the tab on the back of the stand. I do not think that the actual "neck" of the stand can be removed.
I found a manual here (has a few helpful diagrams): http://www.retrevo.com/support/Acer-X223W-Monitors-manual/id/23224ci553/t/2/

Tilt new monitor???

mcdevito75 here, I also have an Acer and it Doesn't tilt, that doesn't mean yours won"t, try to hold the monitor by the top and simply try to tilit it while makeing sure the base stays flat on the desk, (table) don"t force anything. Also look for any kind of screw, or handle connected to the base (bottom) or near bottom of back of monitor. Hope this helps. Oh! also check the manual that came with the monitor, mine has no mention of tilt. Sorry.

Disassembly for shipping

As per page 4 of the User's Manual from Acer:

Detaching the Monitor
If you need to repackage the monitor, please separate the monitor and base, and restore them to
the carton. To detach the monitor:
1. Unplug the AC power cord to make sure the power is off.
2. Pull the 4 hooks on bottom side of the base and hold.
3. Separate the monitor and base and put them into carton.
