Refilled my Dell Ink Cartridge

I took my Dell ink cartridges to be refilled; I replaced the color with a refilled ink cartridge, but my printer still says it's "empty", which I know for a fact it's not. Any ideas??? Thank you. I have had a Dell 948 AIO for about a year, and after buying Dell ink cartridges, I have finally had enough of the ridiculous cost. I went to Cartridge World today and had my black ink cartridge refilled, and now my printer says it's still empty, although it's obviously not. My orange error light is on, and I keep getting the Dell message to buy ink immediately. When I bypass this message and print, everything seems to be fine. My question is, is this safe for my printer to just bypass the error messages and continue printing? Any and all suggestions appreciated...

Yes, it's safe, and if you are dissatisfied with the cartridge, take it up with the cartridge re-filler...better yet, spend about $100 on a black & white laser printer (HP), and get 2000 pages per cartridge, and reduce cost per page by 20 times or more! And If you buy compatibles for this (which are more reliable) -save even more.

Can Dell A960 ink cartridges be refilled and re-used or not?

A lot of inkjet printer manufacturers make you purchase their ink cartridges by installing a chip in the cartridges so when the cartridge is empty it cannot be reused by filling the cartridge.

Refilled ink catridges and printer still shows that the ink is low

If you unplug the printer from the wall and remove the power brick for 60 seconds, this will reset any error messages the printer has. I would then plug everything back in.

Power on the printer.

Open the printer(with the power on) and take out the Dell Series 5 black cartridge and then reseat it. I would then take out the color Dell Series 5 ink cartridge and reseat it. Now close the printer and it will print an alignment page.

Any error messages?

black cartridge = black side(left side) color cartridge = color side(right side)

photo cartridge = black side(left side) color cartridge = color side(right side)

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.

It's possible to get a Dell Series 5 ink cartridge with a bad sensor. I would that these back to the place of purchase for a replacement or a refund.

Replaced ink cartridge still shows ink low needs to be replaced but is printing? Can it be reset?

  1. Remove your current empty cartridge from your Dell printer. Turn on your printer and lift the cover and top half of the unit. You can suspend it in place by lifting the blue plastic lever and securing it to hold up the top of the printer. At this point the ink cartridges should move to the center of the printer and be easy to access. Follow the instructions locate on your printer to remove the cartridges. You can do this by pressing on the blue tab to remove the colored cartridge or the black tab to remove the black cartridge. Once you press the tab, the cartridge cover will pop open. Carefully pull out the exposed cartridge from it’s setting. Save the empty cartridge so it can be refilled.
Remove the sticker from the newly refilled Dell ink cartridge. Follow the directions on the opened printer to insert the cartridge. Hold the cartridge so the writing is on the top and the ink spot is on the bottom. Gently push it into the opened setting until it is securely in place. Close the cover of the cartridge holder by pressing down on it gently until it clicks into place. Remember that the black cartridge goes into the black setting and the color cartridge goes into the blue setting. Close the top of the printer. You will hear the ink cartridges move back into place.
  2. Test your newly refilled Dell ink cartridge and load your printer with paper.Print a document so either in color or black and white (depending on the type of cartridge you had refilled). Review your printed document to make sure the color is consistent and you are pleased with the outcome.
Repeat whenever you run out of ink.

After replacing ink cartridge printer dose not reconize one of six

Using refilled in cartridges and incompatible inks result in the following problems.
  • Refilled ink cartridges might leak and cause product damage. One method for refilling ink cartridges is to drill a hole through the cartridge, refill the ink, and then plug it. In some cases this plug does not hold, and the ink runs into the product and damages the printed circuit boards.
  • Refilled ink cartridges frequently exhibit spotty printing or fail to print. This problem might be a direct result of the nozzles being plugged with dried ink. Because the vents of the refilled cartridges have been opened, air is able to enter the cartridge and dry the ink.
  • Refilled ink cartridges might exhibit lower print quality, for the following reasons.
    • Printing algorithms used to create the various colors are based on particular printer inks. Using incompatible inks might result in color matching problems.
    • Refilled cartridges might have damaged nozzle orifices, result in various problems with print quality.
    • company products to which the printer belongs to can use a time delay between pages to accommodate the properties of the specific media type and ink being used. This prevents smearing problems from one page to the next. Using incompatible ink will alter the effects of this time delay and might result in poor print quality.
  • printer might not recognize refilled ink cartridges. The refilling process may involve altering the ink cartridge enough that the product is unable to recognize it. The condition of the print cartridge electrical contacts deteriorates with use. This also results in the product being unable to recognize the refilled cartridge.
  • Refilled ink cartridges might get stuck in the product. Because the cartridges from other manufacturers have been altered, cartridges might become stuck in the product. This problem might require that the product be disassembled to remove the cartridge.
  • printer at times cannot predict the long-term effects on product reliability from using different ink formulations.

Refilled my Dell Ink Cartridge

It's never going to recognize a product that is not original even if it's refilled in the Dell cartridge. That's happened to me--you get used to it. Dell just wants you to get it from THEM and not from any where else. I have a 922 All-in-One....It's been good for the past 3 years.

My Hp does not recognize my color cartridge?

Sometimes the color bleeds over. Did you wipe down the contacts and clean the heads? Also, most of the cartridges have low ink sensors in the. Even if you have them refilled, they will still show as low ink. The only solution is to buy the new ones.... $$$$$$.
