Bidirectional Printing -
A means of printing by a computer printer which prints one line from left to right, then the following line from right to left. Such printing is faster than printing in one direction only, as there is no need to wait for the carriage or other imaging mechanism to return to the left margin before starting a line.
how to enable bi-directional printing.here's how:
- -click on start
- -click on printers and faxes (control panel->printers and faxes)
- -right-click on Dell Photo All in One Printer 964 All-In-One icon
- - click on properties
- -click on ports tab
- -down at the bottom there's a small box before bi-directional support
- -tick the box to enable it then click apply,ok

You might need to speak to Dell or a specialist repair shop.
Until then, please, if wasting paper is the 'only' problem why not just start if up with a piece of waste paper in the feed?
Come to that, why not leave it switched on? Of course that will waste a bit of power but that's not likely to cost more than the power or the ink it wastes on testing itself every time it's switched on...

What do I do when there is a document frozen for
Not sure if this helps, but you should first try to tell the system to delete or cancel all print packages. What is typically happening is that there is a problem with the first item in the queue, and all the others behind it or listed below it won't print eighter - by deleting the troublesome print, it may take time but it should clear - HP would often do that, but totally shutting down cold was the only way to clear the queue. When both the PC and printer did a cold boot, then the queue would be clear. If not then maybe check with the manu of your printer for their advice
