Have you installed OmniPage? What OS are you using? Which scanner did you have previously? Are you able to OCR a document through OmniPage?

Double-check all connections and try another port if possible. There may also be damage to cables or pins. Do you have another cable to try? Do other devices work in the same port?

In Captureperfect, select page size as 'Scanners Maximum'. Select automatic paper size, check the output now. If you select bigger paper size and smaller paper, you will see lack output, outside the paper area.

SOURCE: canoscan 9950F won't scan, says scanner locked, but it isn't
I was surprised by the same problem this morning. First time I've had a problem with in years. Checked the lock... it was already unlocked. I solved the problem by unhooking the USB cable from the hub, restarting my Mac (seems to be the key), replugging the cable and restarting the scanner. Worked like a charm. Hope it works for you!
SOURCE: can't calibrate the scan before scanning
I had the same problem when upgrading to mac os x. I was trying to scan
directly from Photoshop but got the calibration message. I tried the
two solutions given at the Canon website but they didn't work. I ended
up downloading the Toolbox application to scan directly from there but
the same message appeared. After installing the Toolbox application I
unistalled the driver (11250) and reinstalled it. I opened Photoshop
and tried scanning and the calibration window appeared only this time
it didn't stop to give me the "Flim Adapter" warning. I must point that
the scanner lid was open when this happend but I'm not sure that had
anything to do with it.
So apparently it works if you have the
Toolbox installed prior to installing the driver. The driver, Toolbox
application and unistall driver can be found at Canon's website. Hope
this helps.

Hi, at first connect your scanner with your pc then-
