Poor photo copy when printing 4x6 glossy in cassette tray.

When printing 4x6 glossy photos from cassette tray, excess ink and smearing on photograph, with lines. No problem with printing via auto sheet feeder, but not sure how to print 4x6 size there. Performed nozzle check - all ok. Did bottom cleaning and cleaning print nozzles even though not indicated. No improvment in quality. Can you help?

Set the Ink Intensity (Windows) The Intensity setting controls the amount of ink placed on the paper. The higher the intensity the darker (more ink) the printed image will be. If the Intensity setting is set too high, the printed page may become too wet and curl or streak. Follow the instructions below to adjust the ink intensity settings.

  1. Access the printing preferences by opening the printer Preferences / Properties.

    For Windows Vista
    • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, Click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.
    For Windows XP Home Edition
    • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.'
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.

    For Windows XP Professional Edition
    • Click 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Printers and Faxes.'
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.

    For Windows 2000/Me/98
    • Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
    • Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.

  2. On the Main tab, select 'Manual' for 'Color Adjustment', and then click 'Set'.

Printer is not printing the black colour when i load the paper from the rear slot...

Hi
try printing a "Nozzle check" to confirm that both your black cartridges are working ok. One cartridge - the smaller (photo) one is used for printing photos on glossy paper. The second - bigger cartridge is used on plain (copy) paper. Sounds to me like your smaller (photo) black cartridge is not working. It's either empty or may need "Cleaning" or "Deep cleaning". In case you don't know...Nozzle check, Cleaning etc utilities can be found on "Maintenance" page in "Printer properties".
good luck

When I print a glossy photo print, right at the end the printer makes a noise as if its labouring and there are excess ink smudges on the corners of the print. It only happens when printing glossy paper.

i think the problem is with your print head. i have the same problem before. when i put out the print head to check. there's a lot of excess ink. this may be the reason for the ink smudges on the corners of your print. and when you set your printer to photo printing. it is programmed to put larger amount of ink than normal printing. the best way is to have your printer checked by your service center or change your printhead to a new one. goodluck!

When I use my Brother MFC-465 CN printer to print 4X6 photos with the photo paper bypass tray in proper position, it jams sending the photo paper through. Printer is set to 4x6; software set to photo as...

Hi there!
The compatibility of the paper may affect the issue that you are having. I have a brother printer also and prints on 4x6 size what i can suggest is to try turn the photo paper upside down, so facing the tray, 2 sheets at the bottom should have the glossy side up. and the sheet where you need to print the photo should be facing down. So when the paper roller grabbed the photo paper at the top it will smoothly pass thru,
Hope this helps! Vikroks

Ink from my deskjet 5650 smears off my glossy postcards.

Hello there jbaerpynes.

You must use HP branded glossy paper in this particular printer as recommended by the manufacturer. Because HP ink is much finer than most other inkjet printers, the ink sometimes does not set in properly on generic papers, especially glossy ones, and can smear right off.

Try new paper and get back to me. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to comment on my post. If I helped you, please give me a positive rating.

Thanks.

Only 4x6 tray prints clearly

For this concern try pressing "copy+cancel" for media calibration then try again, make sure you have an A4 paper loaded. If this doesnt help you out try using the Kodak website www.kodak.com/go/itg and use "image quality" for class.

Printing onto photo paper from mac g4 computer

I put the 4x6 in the bottom cassette. I place it with the shiny side down. Landscape is when the 6" length is front to back in the tray.

I use the cassette exclusively for 4x6 and use the back tray for all else. It works great.

HP Photosmart D7360-Won't print from photo tray

You have to push in the photo tray~. Push until you hear it click...then it will print from the print tray and in turn, you will be able to print photos unto your glossy photo paper instead of the letter size paper.
