Refrigerator not cooling--has thawed/ but top freezer is cooling

It need to be flashed the gas might not circulate it having blockage

CHECK THE THERMOSTAT, IT NEEDS REPLACEMENT

Needs to be completely thawed for 2 days. Or wlse the circulator fan under the freezer panel inside freezer is not working. Take the plastic bottom of freezer out and let thaw. Then plug in fridge and check if the fan is running inside there. Do not poke around inside there or fridge will be punctured and ruined.

i have a side by side refrigerator is all ice bihind the cover evaporator

Sounds like your freezer has a bad defrost thermostat ( bimetal ) or bad #4 and/or #5 thermistor . This bimetal , has a high temp rating of 140 degrees , which means , when it gets to 140 behind the panel , it will cut off the defrost heater , to keep ice and food from thawing . The thermistors , tell the main control board the temps , and it decides when to restart the cooling process . I would check the thermistors by the digital controls , in the test mode , or have a technician check them for you .

It is due to the defrost timer is not working. Once it is replaced, you should be good for another year. The information is given by the repairman. I have this replaced two days ago. The MayTag part number is: 61005988.

the unit is loosing the freon supply to the evaporator.you either have a leakage,a blockage or the compressor is not pumping to full capacity.
