If the ink cartridges you purchased are not Lexmark - that could be the problem. I used to have a Lexmark printer and I did the same thing - I purchased ink cartridges that were compatible but not Lexmark brand. Everything seemed fine until I tried to print and then I would get the same error sign and low ink message and it would not print. I kept thinking I was doing something else wrong and tried everything. In the end I broke down and got ink cartridges from Lexmark and that solved the problem. Now I have a Brother printer and I never buy anything other than Brother ink cartridges because I'm always afraid of that same thing happening again. I wish I knew which printers WOULD accept those non name brand ink cartridges, but thus far I do not know of any printers that do. Hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Inputting new ink cartridges

Error 1102 means cart error. Try cleaning the copper contacts on the cart and the contacts in the printer also. If still fails, then put old carts and check if u still get same error. If u dont get the error then there is a problem with the cart itself. But if you have bought a refilled cart then the print heads on the carts are bad. Needs replacement.

SOURCE: Lexmark x4650 says "print cartridge missing" but just replaced.

CLick on Start, printers and faxes, right click on your printer icon, click on properties.

There should be a tick box to allow you to reset the cartridges to new....

I have put compatable ink cartridges in my printer and a message comes up

Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled, re-manufactured or clone cartridges. Not only that you might not get the print quality you expect from ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark but you'll never know if the cartridge will actually work with your printer or harm your printer.
I highly recommend that you replace your compatible cartridges with genuine Lexmark cartridges to get the best printing results.

Bought compatible cartridges for lexmark S405 all in one. Won't authenticate them. locked out of printing. Any ideas

For the most optimal output experience with your AIO, Lexmark recommends that customers update their firmware. The firmware helps ensure that customers receive the highest yields of ink available from the cartridges, which offers the greatest value and means fewer necessary cartridge replacements.

If you choose to upgrade firmware, note that unauthorized use of third-party 'cloned' cartridges will no longer be possible.

When purchasing ink cartridges, Lexmark customers have two options:

Regular ink cartridges without license terms (100A/100XLA) that you may a) return to Lexmark free of charge (for recycling by Lexmark), b) refill, recycle or remanufacture themselves, or c) provide to third parties for refilling, recycling, or remanufacturing. Any Regular ink cartridge can be refilled by a customer or a third party and will continue to work in their Lexmark printer.

Return Program ink cartridges that provide customers with an up-front discount in exchange for their agreement to use the ink cartridge once and return it only to Lexmark for remanufacturing and recycling.

I have a Lexmark X3470 which uses the Lexmark 1 cartridge . I bought a replacement but the printer displays incorrect cartridge.

Please remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a dry lint free paper towel and gently wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge (not the bottom from where ink is present). Wipe the contacts inside the printer (on cartridge carrier). Please snap the cartridges back into the cartridge carrier and please try to print a printer self test.
Good Luck!!!!

I need to reset my ink levels so my X3550 refilled cartridges

If you have refilled the cartridges you got along with the printer, you can't reset them. 23 and 24 are not meant to be refilled. They are what Lexmark call "return program cartridges"- they can't be refilled, you can send them back to Lexmark ( that's why they are called "return cartridges"). You need to buy either 23A and 24A or 34 and 35, those cartridges are refillable.
Here is a link to Lexmark, with a list of cartridge compatibility for your printer:

Epson DX7450 won't recognise compatible cartridges

This is a common problem and is caused by faulty or missing chips onthe compatible cartridges. You will need to get them replaced otherwise the printer will not operate. Contact the vendor where you bought them from and ask for repalcements or a refund.

Compatible ink cartridges dx8400

Epson cartridges are microchipped.

Do your new cartridges carry the same chip?

If not, they will not work.

If all else fails, return them to the supplier and explain they are not recognised by your printer.

Lexmark x3470 cartridge missing warning

More than once I've gotten cartridges that we're bad (and some even empty) right from the manufacturer's box. Return it for exchange as defective (you won't get money back for opened ink, but they should exchange it). I'm assuming that you've already re-installed this cartridge a couple of times and that there we're no previous problems. Good luck!
