SOURCE: Right-side cover will not close, springs are disconnected.
Normally the right cover hooks break off and causes the door not to close. There is square holes in front and back of the right cover that you can use to hook the spings again.

Thats right that spring help to counter balance the top,the pease of plastic is to keep the spring in place. There are 2 spings that support the top. That plastic is not so expensive but to install the new plastic and spring is a very big job and it can be expensive. It normally takes me 3 hours to replace. The mashine can work normally it is only a hassel when you want to replase the toner .
SOURCE: Spring that holds down the roller is not attached.
If you have the spring that was on bushing ( part that missing ) unscrew the screw, stretch spring, and screw it, so that screw holds spring, and you can copy.

Hi Canon copiers are among the most common photocopying machines available on the market. They are known for their affordability and delivery of quality photocopies of printed pages, and because of this, they have been used in various business and office establishments. Like most copiers, Canon copiers also have their own setbacks and issues, but these can be fixed easily once they are properly diagnosed.
Issues.Among the most prominent issues with Canon copiers is when the machine produces either full black or white copies. Most users tend to think that the problem lies with an empty ink or toner. If that were the case, however, then they would still receive copies, but the prints would either have unnecessary lines or blurry images. When the copier produces plain white or all black printouts, the problem has to do with internal parts of the copier.
Causes. The causes of the production of black or white printouts can be traced to one of two roots: broken corona wires or faulty circuit boards. If the copier has an erratic circuit board, it not only produces all-black copies, it also has a misplaced light/dark slider that has to be manually adjusted in order to produce quality prints.
Diagnostics. You can troubleshoot the problems concerning Canon copiers by doing a quick check to see where the problem lies. If you are experiencing intermittent black printouts, see if the bias lamps turn on during printing. These consist of small lamps at the bottom part of the copier drum, where the transfer corona is. The lamps should be not be lit whenever continuous black copies are produced. Faulty circuit boards, meanwhile, can be diagnosed when you have to slam the top-down cover of the machine in order to produce quality, and not blank prints.

This steel roller is actually the registration roller. Most often what happens is the plastic tabs that hold the pressure springs break. At either end of the roller there should be a black or white plastic block under the roller along with the white lever and a spring that runs up and over the roller between the block and the arm. In the pictures I included the block is the middle picture and the arm is on the right. If either of the springs pictured on the left is missing then the tabs have broken and the spring has come off. The reason the paper stops is there is insufficient pressure to pull the paper thru. You need to check both sides and determine which of the 3 parts per side that you will need. You can order them from precisionroller.com
They have pictures of the parts so you can see whch ones you need. Just search for "PC430 registration" and you will see the pics of the parts you need.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.
