Hayward 1 12 Hp Super Swimming Pool Pump Sp2610x15 - Page 8 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

HS = High Limit Sensor
Heaters Maximum Water Temperature has been Exceeded.
A few reasons this occurs...
  • Low water flow thru heater, check :
    • Dirty Filter
    • Opened By Pass Valves
    • Plugged pump impeller
    • Dirty/Full baskets at skimmer or pump
    • Anything that may reduce water flow
  • Sensor could actually be doing its job, in a different aspect, Thermostat failure, and water is overheating in spa or pool?
But anyway, your heaters fault code you asked about is: hs, not h5

Warranty status? Probably gas control valve and its connections to the "buzz" ignitor system. Gas is not a DIY thing!

You need to be specific, with correct information.
I would be glad to assist, once we know what size filter you have?
What you provided was the model number of the multi port valve. No help at all at determining size of filter!

Might you be referring to the Brass Gas Orifices?
a 'Stripped' #12 gauge copper wire works great!
Bend it into something like a lambs hook, yes- like Mary Had A Little Lamb...
then poke and clean out.
If needing a more thorough job, each one does unscrew from the gas manifold.

what is the water like?
Dirty? Green? Murky? Cloudy?
Something is clogging the filter!

Let me ask this, you said: "Pressure drops Off" ???
Do you have a pressure guage on the filter?
Does the pressure increase? Or does it Decrease?
This will be an important piece of information!!!!
  • If pressure increases on the pressure gauge...
    • then filter is working and filtering out dirt and filter is clogging up.
  • If pressure decreases on the filters pressure gauge,
    • then the basket, or literally anything that is decreasing or stopping the water from getting to the pump, or more precisely to the internal impeller of the pump!
Most commonly - plugged impeller, baskets need to be checked, enough water in pool? etc.

The code you are referring to is actually IF, not 1F. It stands for ignition failure.
If the control exceeds the maximum number of ignition retries or recycles the heater will shut down and go into lockout. Automatic reset is 60 minutes.

"LO" is simply informing you that the Heater is not sensing proper water flow through it! A Flow Problem.
A special sensor, called a pressure switch is this source. But... That does not mean it is bad - No, it is in most cases just doing its job!
Most common reason - Dirty Filter.
A good cleaning of the cartridges, or maybe a breakdown and recharge of a DE Filter, or a good cleansing backwash of your sand filter, will remedy this situation.
Or... Check for any OTHER reason or situations water flow may be reduced through the heater:
  • enough water in pool or spa?
  • If you have a weir gate in skimmer, is it stuck in the UP position?
  • Are any valves closed?
  • Do you have a bypass valve at the heater?
    • If open, this will reduce the amount of water going thru heater, close it to the point, LO goes away.
  • Could be debris in front of Pressure Switch, in the copper tubing
    • Unscrew and remove pressure switch, turn pump on. But first, align end of tube so that when water squirts out it will shoot out from heater and not onto electronic heater components!
  • If all above is good, you may have failed pressure switch?
  • Etc
Good Luck - hope this helped.

Also, on a propane heater, some makes & models will have the gas valve 'Lock Out'. This will be done by the ignition control module. To reset, heater will need to be powered off, then back on. Good Luck - hope this helped.

Make sure the voltage is set for 240 volts and not 120 volts

Hayward Pool &... | Answered on May 15, 2015 | 102 views

Most Pool Pumps use a 1/4" regular standard thread.
Thats pretty standard.
Now the filters from Hayward vary! They use a cap normally, and size is all over the board.

Turn dial or press the up /down button to desired temp

Not enough water flow!
Either a
  • bypass valve is open all the way, and reducing water flow into heater
  • Worn/broken internal bypass - unitherm governor
  • Blockage of some sort reducing water flow, in circulation line

When something like the above is present, the minimal water flow, gets super heated really fast when heater is on and firing! So hot in fact, that the water turns to Steam Instantly!
and the steam is a very Volatile substance! Remember? It was once used to move Locomotives!
get this fixed asap!
call a pool / spa professional for assistance in evaluating your next step.

Good Luck.

the filter is clogged up which needs to be cleaned
I don't know if you you have a sand filter or an earth filter system but get it cleaned to operate correctly

Hayward Pool &... | Answered on Dec 18, 2014 | 5,015 views

120 or 240 spa?

how long does the heater stay on?
how do you know the heater even comes on?

Try cleaning the filter, then check.

IF means ignition failure make sure gas supply is correct pressure make sure heater is wired correctly usually if wired 120 volt you have to change wiring to accomidate that voltage if wired correctly and is 120 volt reverse black and white wires
