This means that either the connection quality is poor, or the receiving fax machine is faulty, or your machine is.
Does it happen every time? Try to send a test fax to a number you know to be OK, and see if the problem persists. If you can't send a successful fax to anyone, then your unit may need servicing.
If the problem is with one particular destination, then you have to establish whether the faxes connect at all, and if they do, phone the other party and ask if the fax came out readable - sometimes despite the No Good message the fax on the other side looks just fine.

Fax transmission reports

What you are explaining should work. If you need prior activity reports from previous faxes, you can press Function then 2 (Act. Report)

I think you might need to press Function, then 7 then 1

From the manual:

Transmission Verification (Xmit) Report You can use the Xmit Report as proof that you sent a fax. This report lists
the time and date of transmission, and whether the transmission was successful.

When the feature is OFF, the report is printed automatically only if an error occurred during transmission. If the report indicates NG, send the document again. If the report indicates you should check the readability of certain pages, resend those pages.
If you typically send multiple faxes to the same destinations, you may need a reminder to identify each fax transmission. You can select OFF+IMAGE or ON+IMAGE to print a portion of the first page of the fax message on the report.

1 For the FAX, press Function , 7 , 1 .
For the MFC, press Function , 1 , 7 , 1 .
2 Press or to select OFF, OFF+IMAGE, ON or ON+IMAGE and press Set .
3 Press Stop to exit.

Hope this helps you.

Fax confirmation

most printer in the market has the same standard setting for the fax.
u can set the report many types for many user's purposes, some people want to save paper, save ink/toner, so they dont need report if the fax is sent but only print report if the fax is not good(NG or not sent)

it can be set to:
report off--means report will be print out only if the fax is NG
report off+image--means report will be print out if the fax is NG + the image of the page that is not sent(so we know which page is not sent through the image)
report on+image-- every fax activities( sent or not sent) will be reported, which is not recommended
etc....

how to set is depends on your printer, just go to the menu "FAX" and look inside the menu.

Every fax we try to send it comes up with a error tx report of "NG". What does "NG" mean and how can we fix it?

Hello.

NG means: Some or no pages sent.

Check the paper feeder to see if the page is pulling through.
Listen to see if the fax line "sounds"like it is working or if you hear dialing or not.

Hope this helps.
