You are speaking the truth there , the really sad part is all brand front load washers will have mold/mildew build up due to the rubber boot seals they all use , the only way of fixing this is soaking and scrubbing with bleach which is not a fun job to do.
until they can figure out how to get all the water out after use we will have to deal with mildew.
top load washers use gravity to drain most water out so they dont have this problem.

You're right - I've received more than a few emails stating the respiratory and allergy problems have stopped after the washer has been cleaned. However, it's not your Bosch washer that is the problem. All washers - both front and top loading - have this problem. Using vinegar or bleach and leaving the door open will lessen odor by drying out the residue causing the odor but makes it difficult to remove and it will be activated when it gets wet. The area of worst buildup is always just above the normal waterline where suds and soiled water splash up and don't get rinsed out. To clean this splash area add 1 cap of smelly washer cleaner to a full load of laundry and wash in a hot setting. Intermittently pause to soak for extreme cases.

Sweetwood, try this and see if it helps. I have a Bosch pair of front loaders. Run a hot water load with chlorine bleach. Every time you are done with the washer, leave the door open overnight so it dries well, and wipe the rubber seal dry with an old hand towel. I have a fan in the utility room I put on to circulate air in & around it to help dry it out also during humid/hot season.

I am allergic to molds and odors......once I smell mold other smells seem to be intensified.....and I start the allergic reaction all over but worse. Is this normal.

If you have a mold allergy, your immune system overreacts when you breathe in mold spores. A mold allergy can cause coughing, itchy eyes and other symptoms that make you miserable. In some people, a mold allergy is linked to asthma and exposure causes restricted breathing and other airway symptoms.
If you have a mold allergy, the best defense is to reduce your exposure to the types of mold that cause your reaction. Medications can help keep mold allergy reactions under control.

the most important is to go to the Doctor to be given proper consultations regarding your allergies.

How do I get rid of the black mold on the door gasket?

If you take a bit of tilex mold/mildew spray and a rag, you should be able to remove it all.
Also , look down at the bottom of the front "gutter" just in front of the tub. There is a series of drain holes and clothes lint can build up a bit in here. take a towel and wipe the holes really clean . This will help keep the water draining out of the front and keep the moldy smell to a minimum.
One last thing, I've found with my front loader, that if I keep my wash loads to a medium full size instead of completely jammed full load size, the drain/mold issue is almost non-existent.
Hope this clean it all up for you!

Mold & Smelly in Washer

Wash on hottest and longest cycle with regular laundry soap and a bottle of vinegar. After cycle, wash again with soap on hottest/longest cycle. This will clean your washer like new.

Affresh

Try reliable parts. There are many locations across Canada and the US. You might also get the Affresh tablets at an appliance retailer or hardware store but I'm not sure.

http://www.reliableparts.com/

Here are some (mixed) reviews of the affresh tablets. http://www.buzzillions.com/dz_708669_whirlpool_affresh_washer_cleaner_reviews#reviews

but like I said in my post, you may have to run a few full cycles with the tablets to get a smelly washer clean and then maintain it by using the product every 1-3 months or so.

You could also try this product: http://www.smellywasher.com/

This is an review on their site:
"I have to tell you I am very pleased. Having an acute sense of smell, I always get teased for smelling odors that others don't. For about 6 months we've had a mold/mildew odor in our 1 1/2 year old washer. I found your site on the internet and ordered SmellyWasher.
I can tell you my husband was amazed at all the mold coming up and I felt "vindicated". Here is the other interesting side of things. Coinciding with the smell of the constant mold/mildew for the last 6 months has been the fact that I have been constantly sick. I came down with cold after cold after respiratory sickness along with the rest of the family since Thanksgiving. I was literally getting sick of being sick. The last bout was bronchitis with whooping cough.
After I did the cleaning out of the washer with your product and removed all the mold/mildew, I have NOT gotten sick since and have had 2-3 weeks without any respiratory problems. I have come to believe that it has something to do with me cleaning out the mold, and no mold residue on towels or clothing. My husband is coming to believe this also. It's so nice to breath in and NOT smell the mold.......
I love your product and have told several people about it.

Mold & Smelly in Washer

Thanks for your suggestion about looking in the lip of the seal. I found one of my three year old granddaughters socks. Also, the seal for very dirty so I mixed a 50% solution and 50% solution of chlorox and used an old towel rag to wipe and wash throughly around the lip seal.

I noted that the aluminum ring inside the washer had also accumulated a lot of dirt. With one hand and fingers I held the wet cholorx towel inside the ring and with the other hand spun the tub around several turns until I had removed all the dirt and grime.

It did have a moldy smell. I'll let you know if this fixed the problem.

The bin stinks like mold

Have had machine for 6 years.  Mold is an issue.  Occatioinally I clean out the drawer and behind the grey rubber seal with vinegar.  After a load is washed, I dry off seal and leave door slightly open.  Occationally I also wash a load of nothing but bleach.   Hope this helps.

On August 29, 2007, SFMS filed a Complaint against Sears Holding Corp. involving its Kenmore HE, HE2, HE3, HE4, HE5 and other front-loading automatic washers.
