Question about Bosch Nexxt 100 Series WFMC1001UC Front Load Washer
I called Bosch and the lady spoke to me over the phone on how to fix this, it requires a machine reset as follows:
1. With the power on press and hold down the start button.
2. While still holding the button down turn the dial one click anti-clockwise (15 minute cycle on mine)
3. If it shows '8888' on the display then skip to step 5, if it shows 'E3' turn the dial back to the off position.
4. Press and hold the start button down and again turn the dial one click anti-clockwise (15 minute cycle on mine)
5. With '8888' now displaying hold the start button in for 1 minute.
6. Stop pressing the start button.
7. Return the dial to the off position.
Hopefully that's it!

DRNR response was on the money.
I had issues with this for years before it completely failed. Bought $50 door mechanism and replaced myself.
6 months later - machine operating near flawlessly. Very occasionally the same error would occur, but we've found that by pressing the start button before closing the door, the error never occurs. Seems that the door mechanism is activated more certainly when operated this way.
So before replacing the door mechanism, I would first suggest the "press start, wait for click, before firmly closing door" method.

Hello sysclear - can you tell me where you bought the door mechanism from? For about a year we have had issues with the door and need to give it a few good nudges before the machine will recognise that the door is in fact closed. Over the weekend it stopped working and is displaying the E3 message so I think it's time we replace the door mechanism. Thank you, Sam.
I bought the part from an appliance spares store. Just google to find Bosch spare parts stockists in your location.

Check the front panel buttons are not stuck in and are operating correctly.

Exactly what was the case for mine! The temperature button got stuck! Almost bought a new machine until I accidentally touched it and it popped up!
