You Need to connect your printer to your computer with the USB cable.
Then Install the drivers from the CD which came along with your printer.
Follow the onscreen instructions while installing the drivers and software.

Once its Installed Start using your printer.

If you don't have the Driver CD, you can download it from the Internet.

Go to http://support.dell.com

Download the driver and install it.

Any drivers you need can be found on the lexmark website. Note that some printers need the software installed before hooking up the printer. I'd try to install the printer first. The software will tell you if the printer needs to be connected.

It is recommended to install first the software ( use the cdrom and follow instructions ) BEFORE connecting the device to the pc . If you don't have the cdrom , you can get the software/driver , free of charge , from here : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=1141647&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

first have your installation cd ready. if you dont have an installer cd, go to canon website to download the driver. insert the cd and wait for the autorun or find the install/setup program on the cd. follow the instructions and when it says you plug the printer, that was the time that you will power up the printer and plug it to one of the avail usb port of your computer. once the computer detects it will continue the process and instruct you on what to do next. remember run the cd installer or downloaded installer first before plugging the printer.

Try this. Before connecting the printer put the printer driver cd in the drive and install the drivers. If not asked to connect the printer, then restart the computer with the CD in the drive Connect the printer. Printer will be detected.

Kindly click here and enter the model number. You can download the driver for the printer.

Remember that unplug the printer and that start the installation of the printer. You need to plug in the printer to the computer when prompted to do the same during the installation.

You need to reinstall your printer driver. If you have the installation cd,
1. unplug your printer from the computer,
2. install the driver from the cd,
3. plug your printer back into the computer
4. turn the printer on
5. print your document.

If you do not have the installation cd, try the printer manufacturer's web site for the print driver. Before installing the driver, disconnect the printer from the pc to make sure installation goes smoothly.

Once the driver is installed, when you plug the printer into the computer and power it on, the computer will find it and finish the installation process automatically.

This will not help the problem posted by guest. His problem is totally unrelated.
