Canon makes it ******* owners by using a small electronic chip on each cartridge that opens when it is taken out of the printer. Sometimes removing a cartridge will not open and when replaced in the print head, it works, but if the cartridge sensor fails to communicate with the printer, you would need a resetting device to bring the cartridge back to normal. Rather than become upset with the issue, it would be best to get a new cartridge from any reseller on the internet (not Canon) and go from there.

suspect you do not have the cannon scanning software installed.
suggest downloading the drivers from cannon

Then hopefully the program for scanning is installed.
and it works out how your scanner is connected to your pc ?

You have ordered incompatible cartridges. You need CL38 (colour) and PG37 (black). They do not fit your machine. Send them back for a refund.

You can find the solution here:

You must hold the stop/resume button for 2 or 3 seconds. The printers detects that it's a filled cartridge and alert you about it... That's all.

Hello there:
here is the normal step for this procedure.
  • Turn off the canon printer
  • Hold the Resume Button (red circle in the triangle), add a printer (click “Power”) an indicator light green.
  • Hold the Power Button, release the Resume Button.
  • Not releasing the Power Button, double click “Resume” and release Both Buttons.
  • Click “Resume” for Four times
  • Once you click “Power”, to confirm the selected action (reset counter absorber). To disable the printer “Power” button to click again.
  • I hope that you find this very helpful for you
  • Please dont forget to rate this for me it helps me so i can continue helping others

Are you using fine ink cartridges? Is your printer still working normally besides the flashing lights?

Canon PIXMA... | Answered on Apr 06, 2016

it common with cannon
i put a piece of wire tape on the ink cartridge level gauge so it gives full reading all the time..you get more printing less warnings/errors.

Canon PIXMA... | Answered on Mar 31, 2016

It should have a fuse on the internal power board so look at where your power cable enters then you should see glass fuses, check them and you can normally see if the thin wire inside has split or if the fuse has turned black.
