I have a DC07 that has a noise that sounds like the noise you here when the brush bar won't turn and the vac is on. That noise that sets your teeth on edge. The brush bar is free and clean, blet looks good also. The noise is not as pronounced as when the brush bar is stuck but is constantly there. I have checked all pipes for obstructions also. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Jim Baron

Make brushes turn - band is intact but not turning the brushes

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Are you able to confirm whether your DC07 includes the brush control feature or not? The brush control would be a round dial on the cleaner head which allows you to turn off the brush bar when cleaning hard floors or delicate rugs.
make-brushes-turn-band-intact-but-not-lwqyc41qlbnwv0kthpkl2aqr-3-0.jpg

If your DC07 does include brush control, make sure that when the vacuum cleaner is turned on and reclined, the brush control is set to 'Carpets'. The brush bar will never rotate when the brush control is set to 'Hard floors', or when the machine is standing in the upright position.

If you're confident your machine is already set correctly but the brush bar is still not rotating, or if your DC07 is a version which doesn't include the brush control feature, we'd appreciate the opportunity to provide further assistance.

I'd encourage you to give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call when you have your DC07 easily to hand so we can take you though some simple troubleshooting checks. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

DC07 grinding noise

I had the same problem with mine, I took it to a repair shop. The problem is where the belt passes through from the brush and goes inside the machine. Move the belt over a bit and you will see that a plastic guide has been bent over and is pressing onto the brush, which causes the noise. Just bend it straight again and it stops.

I just replaced the clutch on dyson dc07 and it's

Hi there, Yes it likely does need replacing. The only other possibility is that the base plate is installed slightly incorrectly and is pressing on the roller making it unable to move. If the machine makes the same sound without the base plate on replace the roller brush. It is possible to simply replace the roller brush bearing too (size 625) if the roller is not damaged.

Older Dyson 07 Animal, loud ratcheting noise on carpet setting

That is an indication that the belts are worn, stretched or broken. You simply need to replace the belt. Here is a link to the belt(s) you need and a manual you can view:

Hi my dyson dc07 animal has suction but the brush bar wont turn. If I turn it on there is a horrible noise. The belt is still fine

The belt is probably worn or stretched. When this happens the belt won't turn the roller brush when it is against the carpet. Here is a link for the manual and links for the belt you need:

Very loud click/catching noise - Dyson DC07Allergy

Take the sole plate off the brush bar (with a coin or a screw driver)compartment and check for blockages near the brush bar and make sure the brush bar spins round freely.
Its sounds like the clutch is slipping (it does this to protect it self from burning out when something is stopping the brush bar from turning)
A quick test is when in upright position turn the brush bar knob to off
(usally in drive postion) then try the user position again - the brush bar should not be turning and they should be no noise
