DC07 grinding noise

Hi, My Dyson DC07 All Floors recently started making a horrible loud plastic grinding noise but only when the machine is leaned back to engage the brush bar. I thought the clutch assembly had failed and replaced it. Unfortunately this has not fixed the problem. The brush bar seems to be turning freely so I'm looking for any other ideas? Thanks, Chris.

Thanks for the advise I ended up disassembling the unit again and noticed one of the plastic guides on the inside of the brush housing that lines up with the belt had worn away. I think this may be causing the belt to get jammed when its turning at speed. I have ordered a new brush housing they are not expensive and its the only part that appears slightly damaged. Will let you know how I get on

This actually ended up being the bearings inside the brush bar on the side nearest the belt. You can diagnose this by removing the brush bar and shaking it. If the bearings have failed you will hear the ball bearings rattling around inside the brush bar housing (this is not normal). The bar appears to rotate freely until there is pressure on it, when it picks up speed the friction from the failed bearings will cause it to seize up and the clutch will slip making that horrible noise. After replacing the brush bar everything was fine. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with mine, I took it to a repair shop. The problem is where the belt passes through from the brush and goes inside the machine. Move the belt over a bit and you will see that a plastic guide has been bent over and is pressing onto the brush, which causes the noise. Just bend it straight again and it stops.

Noise

Hi Linda,
Sounds like clutch problems, try to move the lever for carpet/floor back and forth a few times maybe it will free up. If it still makes the grinding noise, the clutch assembly will have to be replaced. Let me know, i can even walk you through the repair if needed.

Dyson making loud noise

If your brushroller isn't spinning it will make the loud sound. Try removing the brushroll and reinstalling it. If this doesn't work, you may need a new brushroller. You can find one here...

I ran over a shoe lace and now it is making a loud rattling noise

The All Floors model has a protective belt clutch system and the rattling sound means the clutch has slipped. This would have to be repaired officially by a Dyson repairer.

My dyson is making a loud horrible noise

Hi.

Check the brush roller can be moved by hand & that it is not snagging on something.
If it is difficult to rotate remove sole plate by turning the 3 plastic screws to unlock position lift plate off & clean brush roller & check you can turn it after this.
If brush roller is free to rotate the chances are the clutch is faulty & will need to be replaced.
Go to this site http://dysonmanuals.llc.nu/
It has manuals that cover clutch replacing on all Dyson models.
