Don't have software for 6210

Hi, You should have the software or driver disk with your printer, inside the printer box. If you can't find out or lost the disc then you have to download it from web. visit www.hp.com search the driver with the model number of the printer and download it.

I have lost my speakers on the monitor. Using Microsoft XP, they were working but now they are not. Did some driver updates then lost the sound on the monitor. Checking the control panel indicates that...

Sounds like you've lost audio output from the sound card. Unplug the audio cable from the sound card and plug in a set of ear buds or headphones. If you don't get any sound your driver's not working. Try reinstalling the old driver.

My drive has power but the icon for it does not appear in the My Computer screen

...Power and data cables, you mean(two - both), Are your drive formatted?(New drives unformatted!).
First, restart your comp, after keyboard flashing, press DEL or F2 and start BIOS, All BIOSes are various, search byself in all menues/buttons Onboard IDE and SATA controllers configuration. All of them must be switched on(on diag time) and it's disk types must be AUTO, and large/LBA mode auto too(after change this param drive must be remapped and re-formatted with full lost of data). Also in ADVANCED submenu I recommend switch off quick self-test(POST). F10 to save changes and if all proper, BIOS must identify disk on boot screen. If boot screen splashed too quickly, go back to BIOS and look for disk parameters. If name of drive here is correct, and drive's geometry seems true, all is OK. If Win or other OS don't see this drive in DEVICE MANAGER/disc drives, then seems you obtain a non-standard device that require model-specific driver from manufacturer.
If drive exist in DEVICE MANAGER/disc drives, but OS don't draw it's partitions in My Comp, then it improperly formatted(part of RAID or virtual partition, or for other OS).Then it's need to new partitioning and formatting(All data become lost).

If BIOS don't see drive, something fail - Mboard, cables, or drive himself. There is one way to half-check drive without Mboard and cables. Plug it to power only, take him in hands, move it to your ear and turn on power switch. First you must listen increasing spindle noise, and after 1-10 sec from one to three head turns.( Modern drives has a noise protection, and sounds are quiet). If sounds differ from this, drive is bad. If heads turns more then 3 times, drive is near to death(half-year max), but still works. If heads don't sounds - drive's board is bad. If heads turns continuously - them or plates's surface are bad.Go to repair or drop off.
Described listening procedure is a self-test of drive and gives 90% sureness of it's goodness. Then try replug cables and test another drive instead for Mboard check. Somebody talks that latest drives don't work with old Mboards, but I never saw this.
