My Tv has double tripple vision and colors fusing together. Can you give me an idea of what's needed? Or is the T.V. done? I don't even know how old it is; I bought it from friends just a few weeks ago. I know it's at least several years, probably 10 years old.

double vision in a rear projection tv has several reasons. one is convergence magnets are out of tune. u need to tune them which is back side of picture tubes. u please observe that which color is producing the double vision. the lens are firmly fixed & therefore need not to adjust. other option is to adjust the convergence of tv by going to service mode by remote.

This is a convergence problem that is either poor solder connections on the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you can solder and are comfortable working inside the set where there are ptentially dangerous high voltages present even when unplugged, you can fix this yourself.

I like the Tech Most likely did a Color Configuration , Go into the Menu and Use the Arrow keys to scroll and look for " Color Calibration " run the test make sure you don't have " Bleeding" this is a term used by Color Tech's like myself to describe that Color are mixing together which is causing your current problem.

Do calibration First.

I have the same TV and just finished having my TV repaired for the same problem. I was unable to converge the colors even in the advanced convergence setup menu. The lines were bowing so far that adjustment was not possible. I had to replace the vertical and horizontal convergence controllers located on the main electronics panel. They require a lot of soldering and should be done by a professional. Unfortunately this is a common "maintenance" repair that happens every 5-7 years, depending on the usage, costing around $500.00 for in home repair. DO NOT USE YOUR TV IF THE CONVERGENCE IS BAD AS IT MY CAUSE THE POWER SUPPLY TO BLOW resulting in addition repair costs.

Hello my name is willie. I see this problem alot on these units at the shop. And from what you describe. THis might be the very common problem with the fl231 fuse. this is a very fine fuse that blows due to bad solder connections. If u can solder and get this very special fuse then this is a very easy simple repair. But the first question you can answer to determine if this is true. is that when you go into customer menu then setup do you have a convergence option in the menu if you do not it is definatley this fuse. if you do then it will be something else like convergence power board. let me know if it is and i will see if i can talk you through the repair.

I have the same problem on my tv - the colors are seperated - the picture is blury and in converge mode the colors will not line up.
Need to know if I need to go and buy a new flat screen tv.

This is from another fixya article but its relevant to your problem.

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.



You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Solution #1

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.


Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos aroundimages.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Look for 2 Big black chips they will be together on convergence broad STK-392-110s,120s replace both ics.Use STK-392-180s
