Sounds very much like you have a either a dirty laser, or a laser unit failure. Put a cleaning disc through the machine, and see if it improves. If not, then you need to either have a new laser fitted, or a new machine.

ur tv needs a new ip board u can remove the back panel and its the center main board it'll be obvious to plain site being its the only unprotected board in the tv. get the model number from the top left of the part then go to enter the part number order the part.this part is only about $130-$150 dollars and ur tv should be as good as new. the ip board is a simple fix just six screws around the board and seven wireharnesses just remove insert new part and and reconnect wire harnesses to correct slot that u removed them from screw back down and ur all set no big deal. dont ask samsung or a repair man they'll just screw u over and throw u around about ten differetn loops. not gettn a straight answer other then bring it n and charge u about $600 to fix. i see alot of people have this problem so there u go simple fix guaranteed. u r welcome.

If you turn on your TV and you have sound but no picture, our LED back light might not be working. get a flash light. Hold the flash light up to the screen. If you see movement your LED back lights aren't working.

Fault with its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary. Before doing anything, try a Hard Reset to this set, and then check. To do a hard reset, just unplug the set from AC mains wall socket, and reconnect it after some time, say after an hour or so. If you do it overnight is better.
If it do not help, contact the authorized service center. It will be the best.

I would go to menu on the remote , from there to picture go down the list, if you do not find anything there to help you. Go to Support and to the E manual .

Some tv sets from the old days used to have a sound only option - these were almost exclusively dedicated to local cable networks such as Rediffusion.

To the best of my knowledge, today no such sets offer that facility as even the audio only digital channels want their audience to see the logo and be able to access the programme schedules and other information.

If you want to kill the picture temporarily while you listen to music you will need to access the menu and turn the brightness to minimum.

I was having the same issue with a Samsung 4053 40"

Comcrap had no clue.

Their phone rep suggested I come in and trade out the remote. That seemed unlikely if others are having the same experience. It is also unlikely a phone rep would have any answer other than what on the web page.

I used 5 digit code "10060" and it worked got the double flag from the remote like Comcast's documentation says. It turns TV on and off and works volume. So far so good.

The key to figuring it out was getting the double flash on the remote 4 digits didn't 5 did.

The moral of our story? Comcast has no clue what they push out the door. I guess that isn't a surprise to anyone.
