It may be the fluid in the CRT or convergence chips are bad.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad ano crosshair on manuel convergence - 2c07611.pnge replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick email and they will put one together for you. Their kits includes photo instruction guides, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Is there a code number that needs to be entered to bring the convergence pattern or menu on screen.

From a user standpoint you would follow these steps to bring up your Convergence menu:

1) Press your MENU button.

2) Press the Right Cursor Button to enter the Picture menu.

3) Press the Down Cursor Button until you highlight the MANUAL CONVERGENCE choice on the menu.

4) You will then see the following choices on the right hand side of the menu: Convergence Red, Convergence Blue, Multipoint Red, Multi Blue, Save Multipoint.

5) Once you choose either the Red or Blue choices you will get a crosshair in the middle of your screen. You will then use either your Up, Down, Left, or Right Cursor buttons to get the two images to line up correctly. If you still have multi images on your screen in either Red or Blue you would then have to adjust the Multipoint choice for that color.

I replaced the converegence chips on my Akai PT4298HD I can move the grid up and down but not left and right because not sure which buttons on my remote move it that way. The picture supplied of the one...

Hi,

You should be able to use the number buttons on the remote to move the cursor to the correct crosshair:

2 = UP
4 = LEFT
6 = RIGHT.
8 = DOWN

After moving the cursor you can adjust the convergence as follows:

CHANNEL (CH) UP = UP
CHANNEL (CH) DOWN = DOWN
VOL+ = LEFT (?)
VOL- = RIGHT (?)

Not sure which way round it is for left and right but you'll find out as soon as you press one of the buttons.

Hope this helps. Please post back if you need further assistance.

Need code to enter on remote to engage multipoint convergence adjustments.Need save proceedure after adjustments are made & exit proceedure for RCA Projection TV Model # HD52W59, ITC 222A

Hello,

To get the code to enter on your remote to engage multipoint convergence adjustments, you need to contact the rca customer care for that, you get them your model number and they will get your code for you.

To process and save the adjustment made, follow the steps below;
  1. Look through your manual. Your manual will always give you the most specific directions for your particular model. Look for an "adjusting convergence" or "set manual convergence" section.
  2. Enter the menu on your TV. Use the remote control and bring up the menu.
  3. Choose "Convergence." This may be under "Picture Settings," "Function" or "Advanced Options."
  4. Select a color. You will have red, green and blue to choose from. Do each one, starting with red.
  5. Press "Enter." A crosshair pattern will appear on your screen.
  6. Adjust vertically. If there is a horizontal red line visible, press the up or down arrow keys (or channel up or down) to adjust the convergence until the line is superimposed on the horizontal-center line of the white crosshair.
  7. Adjust horizontally. If there is a vertical red line visible, press left or right (or volume up or down) to adjust horizontally. Do this until the line is superimposed on the vertical line of the white crosshair.
  8. Save settings. It is important to save your settings when you are done, instead of simply exiting the menu.
  9. Repeat these steps for all colors.
Take care

I have a Philips 51PW9303 Rear Projection TV that had blue shadows around the sides of the screen and now has a green and red bowed line at bottom. Does I need a convergence board to solve this?

If the following doesn't work the tubes could be at the end of life:
Adjusting convergence:
Note: For best results, the Projection TV needs to be turned on for 15 minutes or longer before adjusting the picture tubes (convergence).

To adjust the convergence of the picture tubes:
  1. Press the 'MENU/SELECT' button on the remote.
  2. Press CURSOR RIGHT to enter the PICTURE menu.
  3. Use CURSOR DOWN and RIGHT to select and enter MANUAL CONVERGE.
  4. Press CURSOR RIGHT to select CONVERGE RED or press CURSOR RIGHT and DOWN to select CONVERGE BLUE.
  5. A crosshair will be shown on the screen. If there is any red or blue fringe around the crosshair, use CURSOR RIGHT, LEFT, UP, DOWN to try and merge the fringe colors with the crosshair.
  6. Press the 'MENU/SELECT' button to return to MANUAL CONVERGE menu.
  7. Press the 'EXIT' button to exit the menu.
If you are satisfied with the convergence you may stop now. Otherwise, you can continue and adjust the convergence more using mult ipoint convergence.
To Adjust multipoint convergence:
  1. Press the 'MENU/SELECT' button on the remote.
  2. Use CURSOR RIGHT to enter the PICTURE menu.
  3. Use CURSOR DOWN and RIGHT on the cursor ring to select and enter MANUAL CONVERGE.
  4. Press CURSOR RIGHT and DOWN on the cursor ring to select MULTIPOINT RED or MULTIPOINT BLUE.
  5. A grid of crosshairs will appear on the screen. If there is any red or blue fringe around any of them, press CURSOR RIGHT to enter NAVIGATE mode.
  6. Use CURSOR RIGHT, LEFT, UP, and DOWN to move to a crosshair that has a color outline.
  7. Press the 'EXIT' button to enter ADJUST mode.
  8. Use CURSOR RIGHT, LEFT, UP, and DOWN to merge the color with the crosshair.
  9. Press the 'STATUS/EXIT' button to return to NAVIGATE mode. Repeat as necessary.
  10. Press the 'MENU' button to return to the MANUAL CONVERGE menu.
  11. Press CURSOR DOWN until SAVE MULTIPOINT is selected.
  12. Press CURSOR RIGHT to save the multipoint settings.
  13. Press the 'EXIT' button to exit the menu.

CONVERGENCE

Hello divine tagle,

On your TVs menu you should have a convergence adjustment section. Find this and given the age of your TV it should allow you to adjust what is called dynamic convergence which is the center of the screen and outward. It will do so by having you adjust the blue crosshair and the red crosshair until the completly overlap. The it will have you save the setting and this for the most part is how you can set the convergence on your TV set. These are just rule of thumb adjustment, you can find better detailed instructions in your users guide, (which is you do not have it can be found on-line, or at the manufactures site).

I hope this helps

Thank you,
