  • sgriego Sep 11, 2008

is this menu the Convergence menu on all the rear projection TVs? I have a 65 inch mitsubishi and my TV is doing the same thing. It happened after the earthquake we had here in CA and ever since i see double vision and i see the person in red blue and green. I'm not sure which model I have but I will take the advice and see if I can find this section of the menu on my tv. Thanks for the tips!

I have the same TV and just finished having my TV repaired for the same problem. I was unable to converge the colors even in the advanced convergence setup menu. The lines were bowing so far that adjustment was not possible. I had to replace the vertical and horizontal convergence controllers located on the main electronics panel. They require a lot of soldering and should be done by a professional. Unfortunately this is a common "maintenance" repair that happens every 5-7 years, depending on the usage, costing around $500.00 for in home repair. DO NOT USE YOUR TV IF THE CONVERGENCE IS BAD AS IT MY CAUSE THE POWER SUPPLY TO BLOW resulting in addition repair costs.

Sounds like convergence or vertical. Are you seeing double vision? Also try going into the menu and under advance you should see the convergence menue try adjusting the colors and see if they move. Once you give me this info i can help you more.

Picture Bowed towards the center

It is a convergence problem, probably one of the convergence ICs has blown and must be replaced. Call the number in the last pages of your user manual to get repair service in your area.

Pioneer SD-532HD5 - Picture Bowed on sides only on 1080I

The problem you are describing is known as a pincushoin problem. I'm a bit surprized that you only see it on the 1080i signal though. I've inquired at my Pioneer contact about this and will update this soon.

Stay tuned...

Double focused, red and green, bow in picture top and bottom

hi
You have a convergence problem
If the set has auto focus and will not complete its cycle.
The Auto focus module is bad, (expensive)
If it completes and the problem is still there.
Then check for bad conv. drivers (stk****) or cold solder joint on one or more of the 3 drivers pins.

Mitsu 55'' screen

The convergence ICs probably have a cracked solder joint on the foil side of the circuit board. Re-flowing the the solder would help. I will always replace the convergence ICs when doing this job. The labor remains the same and you will have to pay a few extra bucks for the parts. To fix this yourself, you will need to be able to identify the two convergence ICs (STK392-570), have a basic knowledge of electronics and be able to use a soldering iron.

Mitsubishi vs 60719 - Wavy bow in picture

Either a bad solder connection on your convergence module or a bad convergence IC. Repair costs will probably be in the $350-$500 range.
