HP4+ print quality was perfect, but printer was jamming, so I replaced all the roller parts in the Maintenance Kit, which corrected all jamming! All the paper rollers and the transfer roller is now new. But now I have poor print quality due to horizontal streaks of gray bars, usually about 1/3 down from the top, and horizontal "streaks" of missing toner. All the problems seem to be horizontal.

Run the 1/2 test.
Load paper in the manual feed tray.
Print anything that requires more than 2 sheets.
As the paper enters the printer open the top cover.
Remove the toner cartridge.
Look down at the paper.
If it looks like the problems you described, change the toner.
If it looks good, reinstall the old transfer roller and rerun the test.
If transfer roller doesn't fix it, you have a bad fuser. Put the old one in and repeat.

Phaser 8560 not printing RED correctly

Even though Media Sciences ink is not compatable and is subject to burning and clogging your printhead, the most telling symptom you listed is the red shavings. This indicates the ink is not releasing from the drum properly. This version of solid ink has a problem with the cams on the maintenance camshaft cracking and this causes the maintenance kit roller to not oil the drum properly. You will also hear an odd noise either grinding, groaning or a slight tearing sound. This requires a technician to resolve as replacing the camshaft is not an enduser job. Print quality issues are either the printhead or related to the camshaft failing, there are a few others but they wouldn't exhibit the symptoms you listed.

Xerox 8560 died after installing new maintenance kit.

The error is caused by the printhead not being able to tilt, the maintenance kit (oil roller) is driven round by the drum and has no physical connection to the tilt mechanism. Having said that I did once have a machine that had waste wax loose in the machine and when the customer replaced the maintenance kit the loose wax was pushed into the tilt drive gears which are located on the inside frame left hand side, right behind the oil roller. The wax jams the gears making a noise like a machine gun and tilt error 07,010 was the result.

Paper jams and folds into accordians

Most problems with the HP4 series can be fixed by replacing the paper pick roller. Is your paper jamming at the output slot on the top? Can you print ok with the back door open? If so, you need a new output assembly. Try Feedroller.com for cheap parts.

I need to purchas one maintenance kit for HP 5100 laserjet printer. what contents should be there in manitenance kit. I got no authorised information about this on hp site

To ensure optimum print quality, the printer will prompt you to perform printer maintenance every 150,000 pages. When the PERFORM PRINTER MAINTENANCE message appears on the control panel, you will need to purchase a printer maintenance kit and install the new parts. To check the number of pages the printer has printed, print a configuration page.

To print a configuration page:
1 Press [Menu] until INFORMATION MENU appears.
2 Press [Item] until PRINT CONFIGURATION appears.
3 Press [Select] to print the configuration page.

To order the printer maintenance kit, contact an HP authorized service or support provider. (See the telephone support flyer included with the printer.)

The kit includes:
fuser assembly
transfer roller
feed rollers
necessary instructions

For more information on installing the printer maintenance kit, see the instructions that accompany it.

No matter what tray I print out of my dell 5200 laser, I get a paper jam. Any ideas?

The roller inside of your printer are responsible for guiding the paper through your printer properly. As time passes, these rollers become worn and subsequently don't feed paper through your printer correctly any longer.

To resolve the problem, you can purchase a maintenance kit for your specific printer which will contain new rollers and other parts that are known to require periodic replacement.

This link will give you an example of the maintenance kits available for your printer. http://www.fastprinters.com/ProductDetails.asp?product_id=QSP-AKP5102

Before you decide to purchase a maintenance kit, it would be a goood idea to do some price checking as the price can vary widely. Typically, a maintenance kit purchased from the manufacturer will cost substantially more than a "compatible" maintenance kit made by some other manufacturer.

80 scheduled maintenance

This issue is just like changing your oil or the timing belt on your car. If you don't fix it correctly it leads to other problems. So, be warned. :+)

Here's what the Lexmark KB says:

On the Lexmark T520/522 series printers, we recommend that the maintenance kit be replaced after every 250,000 pages. If possible, an authorized service technician should replace the maintenance kit parts on these printers.

On the Lexmark T620/622 series printers, we recommend that the maintenance kit be replaced after every 300,000 pages. The maintenance kit parts for these printers are customer-installable, but some dismantling of the rear area of the printer is involved.

Note: The maintenance kit may need to be replaced more often if the customer is running heavy media (like card stock or labels) through the printer.
It is possible to clear the maintenance error message without replacing the kit. The printer will still operate, but some print quality problems may arise. However, this is not recommended as the message serves as a reminder that maintenance is due. If the printer is under warranty, the customer has to purchase the maintenance kit and have it replaced in order to keep the warranty active, although the on-site replacement itself may be covered under the warranty.
The parts that make up the maintenance kits are:
A fuser unit
A transfer roller
A charge roller
To find the part number of the maintenance kit needed for your printer, see Printers / Maintenance kits.
Clearing the maintenance message
To clear the message, you will need to go into the printer's configuration mode. Do the following:
  1. Press and hold the SELECT and the RETURN buttons as you power the printer on.
  2. Hold the buttons for six to eight seconds after turning on the power, then release them. (If you receive the maintenance message, press the Go or the Select button to continue past it.)
  3. Now, press the right Menu arrow until you see RESET MAINT CNT.
  4. Select this. You may need to press the Select button again. The printer display should briefly flash SAVED.
  5. Power the printer off and then back on in the normal way. The printer should now power up normally.
  6. If it does not and the error returns, repeat the above procedure.

Fuser roll has big dents in it, says unable to print

Dear Computer_tea,

If the fuser is damaged as you say, you will need to replace it. The unit will not print correctly and the image quality will be very poor.
The fuser unit is part of the maintenance kit, and unless you replace the maintenance kit, it will still say the same. You will need to replace the kit and now for the bad news.

The maintenance kit is going to cost you over $500.

You will need to consider very carefully befor you go out to buy a kit as these printers can be purchased for around $900 new.

Major problems when trying to print, Jamming alot & grinding noise

If the paper is an accordion type jam, you should replace the 4 small rollers, the upper feed roller, the upper feed guide, and the lower rollers. all of these are listed on hp's part surfer website.
RF5-0425-040cn, RF5-0434-000cn, RF5-0432-000cn, and RF5-0438-000cn respectively. Basically, get a new exit output assembly part number RG5-0456-180cn.

MAINTENANCE KIT

There is no maintenance kit per sey. To do a maintenance on these, you only need the fuser, and the 2 rollers in the ADF.
Total cost for all the parts is about $90
I've done these kits a number of times, and they run like new after. I've never had to change the pickup rollers in the drawer yet.

Does it jam at the fuser when doing a single print?

These machines have a Maintenance kit required every 200 000 prints, these MK's include all feed rollers, a transfer roller and the entire fuser assy. To replace the kit fixes all issues I've seen in these printers besides when the cartridge affects print quality.

If it is jamming at the fuser on a single print done via the printer operations panel, and your paper is fresh, it could only be the feed roller having trouble gripping the paper or the fuser not turning/stuffed.

Feed Kit, I have my doubts as to this being your problem

Maintenance Kit Fixes 98% of the time

Was is noisy before it died?
I have seen a few with stuffed fuser drive gears but not many and customers could hear it wearing.

How many prints since last MK? via keypad print a configuration page, count is there ie pages since last maintenance xxxxxx
