How do I clean white or black spots on printed documents?
Description:
First make 10 to 15 copies of a blank, white sheet of paper.
If you still see the spots on printed documents after making multiple copies, clean the drum unit as follows:
The OPC drum is photosensitive so do not touch it with your fingers.
Most black smudges on this model originate from the toner cartridge or the drum cartridge. You can look at the drum to observe if it clean, if not it need replacement, do not touch or clean the drum! If those same pattern smudges appear 3 time on the page it is the drum, if it appear about 6 times on the page it most likely the toner cartridge. there is also the option that it is from the fuser unit, less likely.
Run a print, stop the printer during the print process, take out the drum unit and look at the paper under the drum, if the smudges are on the paper under the drum it is from the drum or the toner cartridges. Good luck.
Try to run a test print. There might be a toner build up in your fuser assembly. Or maybe you have the wrong fuser setting for the paper type you are using. Replace your fuser or paper type.

I've found these smudges to be caused by a build up of toner on the edge of the drum. Carefull cleaning with a lint free cloth sometimes cures the problem.
This model also has a transfer belt, that could also be the cause of the problem.

I had the same problem with my 4 month old Samsung. All of a sudden i had a missing black stripe down the left hand side after replacing the cyan toner with a refilled one!! So.....i uninstalled all the old drivers and downloaded and installed the latest ones.... replaced the cyan with a new genuine toner....removed the black toner, shook to redistribute and put it back.....checked the imaging unit for actual visual damage (there wasnt any!)..... then printed off 50 or so black n white documents. Eventually the 'stripe' dissapeared.
The colour toners were fine all the way through!
It worked for me, hope this helps!

Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
