Its seems the switch is broken in this case youl have to order a new one and install it another way we fix this problem when parts are not available is to have a power switch installed on the main power cord just like the old lamps

Monitor won't turn on after a few hours of being shut off

If it EVER works, then the problem is not a failed part, but a weak part. The most likely component type to give you such problems are capacitors. But very few repair techs know how to find such problems, and even fewer have the equipment needed to find the bad one(s) in-circuit. The failure mode is high ESR (ESR means Equivalent Series Resistance). The lower the ESR, the better. Capacitors with high ESR cannot stabilize circuits which demand high pulse currents, such as in switch mode power supplies.

My compaq monitor for my desktop turn on switch pops on and straight off need to replace switch

Hello,

This can be fixed. You have to open the monitor and reset the power switch so that it will press the power button within the monitor. BE CAREFULL!!!!!! Monitors can retain a nasty power shook even with the power cord unplugged. DO NOT TOUCH COILS OR WIREING DIRECTLY ATTACHED TO THE SCREEN BEFORE DEGAUSING THE MONITOR.

Good Luck

When i push the power button it does not turn off

Hi

The contact switch mechanism under the button has probably jammed.

The cause may be as simple as the recessed button being misaligned with its slot in the monitor frame or it may be as complicated as a damaged switch component that needs to be removed and replaced.

The inside of an LCD Monitor is a dangerous working environment, featuring several capacitors that store a high charge capable of seriously injuruing or even killing an inexperienced person.

Turning the monitor off and on every time you use it is not strictly necessary.

As, in this day and age, we should all be turning our mains power points off when electrical devices are not in use, this is as good a way of turning the monitor off as any.

Underneath the power button is a simple circuit interceptor, connector rocker switch which technically performs exactly the same function as turning the power point on and off.

The PC cannot be treated in the same way, as it needs to follow the proper boot up and shut down procedures to operate properly. So a faulty PC power button must be fixed or replaced.

A faulty monitor power button does not need to be replaced.

If you do choose to fix or replace it, take extreme care or, ideally, get a professional to fix it.

Hope this helps

try powering off your monitor and disconnect the cable at both ends. switch the ends if that doesn't work try another cable.then turn the monitor back on see if the osd menu went away.
