HP Compaq FP5315 15" LCD Monitor dead
yeah replace the caps and sometimes the 7.5v zener diode burns up too. I have been replacing the surface mount ones with just a regular through diode
Sound drivers
Reinstall your speaker drivers, and check if the speaker is connected to the motherboard correctly.
Adjust brightness
Adjust all functions by using front pannel switches
If any switch not function then change it
Monitor switches on. shows screen for about 5
Make sure your computer is working properly. Hook up another known working monitor up to the computer and turn it on. If you get video on the known good monitor then that means the original monitor is bad. If you don't get video on the know good working monitor then that means the computer has no video output and the computer would need to be troubleshooted.
It goes on and off by itself. By holdng the on/off
More likely to have dying power supply due to bad caps with domed tops.

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). I cannot get my monitor
The problem lies in your ram. Pull the modules,swap their positions and reboot. The contacts are dirty and by removing them, they again make proper contact. Blow out dust. You will be fine.
The picture on my montitor turned sideways and is

If you are using an NVIDIA card, in Control panel > personalise > display> Nvidia control panel, set screen to rotate
Once in there, reset the resolution of the display to something that suits you better
Monitor keeps turning on and off? it wont even
your LCD inverter is almost dead. the monitor itself actually remains on, but just goes to black each time the LCD inverter cuts out, since this is what supplies white light to the screen.

THere are speakers on the monitor, but I can't
Yes you need a stereo jack to connect the monitor through the audio port (green hole) to the green port on your soundcard chip. You can obtain one of these from maplins or Radioshack or similar, which will be cheap. Make sure you tell them you wanta jack with stereo

you need to repair or replace the power supply, the blinking means that the the voltage is not constant so it can be a problem of defective capacitors: 1000uF 16 et 470uf 25V, you have to take it to professionnel technician because it is dangerous for you, there is a hight voltage inside the monitor but if you have some knewledge about electronic and hight voltage you can do it by your self.
