I want to connect a Ultrasharp 1907 FPt monitor to my Dell inspiron. I have a power cable and also one from monitor to lappy, do I need a driver?

Hi,
to toggle the screen between your laptop and the dell 19" monitor. Hold down the Fn key on the laptop and tap the F8 key. The screen would move to the external display.

There are three settings that can be done by the Fn + F8 key combination
1. Both the laptop and external monitor works
2. Only the external monitor would work
3. Only the laptop screen works

Thanks

Power button stuck on Dell 1907FP

Hey People! You Dont Need To Do Any Of This! Just Take Off The Power Button " Via A Small Screw You Insert In The Side Of The Power Button, then You Lift It Up And Take Off The Power Button" Then You Just Take The Edge Of A Tack Or Very Small Obect, insert it in the side, push down and it works! on and off like normal, and nothing complicated!

Removing front bezel of Dell 1907FP monitor to repair stuck power button

ThndrChld's suggestions are great but way too complicated. all you need is a flat head screwdriver. the front bezel/frame/whateveryoucallit can be removed without taking the backside off at all.
the reason the power button gets "stuck" is because it is set off centered from the sensor on the chip underneath it and it relies on a little protruding arm to press down on the sensor...this arm has broken off. button is not really "stuck." its a stupid design flaw by dell or whoever they contracted to make the monitor.
take the screwdriver and just stick it into the seams along the side of the front frame (black frame) and wrench side to side, twist your wrist, etc, to open. you will hear creaking and cracking but thats ok and doesnt damage the monitor at all (though you may create scratches and dents in your casing), its just the clips and snap ins coming loose.
here is a shot of it opened. the chip is held in by 3 very small screws. there is nothing you can do about the power button being broken.
(see this pic shows only front frame is pried open, nothing else) 1086a3b.jpg

the way i circumvented this broken power button is to drill a hole directly through the bezel/frame to the chip itself. i turn on my monitor now with a toothpick (i dont suggest using a paper clip as i first did in this shot, it will scratch up the metal on the chip). you can see where the paper clip is inserted and shows that the sensor on the chip is offset from the power button.

do this or take it into a shop and pay money =). who cares about a nasty looking front bezel, at least my monitor still works.

Dell ultrasharp 1907fp bad contrast

I have seen a few of these monitors that when the display is dark in certan area's this usually indicates that one of the CCFL lamps has gone bad or there is a problem with the Analog/Digital Board, you can find the boards on ebay, but be VERY Certain that the board you order is the same that you take out of the monitor, as there are a lot of monitors that use the same simular boards but they are all different.

Power on. Only get white screen

A white screen usually is an indication of a blown SMD fuse on the LCD driver board. This is the board that is actually part of the panel, and you'll need to remove the metal cover on the upper backside of the screen to see it. And by screen, I mean after the monitor has been disassembled and all that's left is the screen.
When this fuse blows, the rest of the monitor still operates fine, like the backlight which is making it white. But the LVDS video signal being sent to the LCD driver board isn't being interpreted and displayed, as it isn't receiving the +5 volts needed to do so.
This really is an easy fix, if you're up to tearing your monitor apart. You'll need a solder gun too. Don't tell anyone I told you this, but you can just place a drop of solder where the tiny fuse is, in order to complete the circuit (if you don't have a replacement for it)

I have Dell 2408WFP. Power

Did you check the surface mounted fuses on the inverter board? If the fuse is OK, there should be 24vdc when you take the DC voltage reading between the fuse and the chassis ground.
See pictures here:

You may have 24vdc power supply problem or backlights inverter board problem.

Dell LCD 1907FP 19" have

Unfortunately this is an early indicator that the LCD display panel is starting to break down and the cost to replace the part will exceed the amount of a new monitor. I recommend using present item until it completely fails. Sometimes the video cable is the issue and should be subbed provided you can detach from both ends.

I have a Dell Optiplex

I am trying to remember if that is a radeon display chipset - if I recall correctly it is, and should be using the catalyst drivers. If the drivers are up to date, this is the solution.
You want to open the radeon vision engine control center, go to common display tasks, then desktop rotation, and choose landscape (non-inverted).
if you are not running a radeon chipset, or are not running the ATI Catalyst driver set then post a comment here and I will help you further.
