Red or pinkish cast on the whole screen? You may want to check the VGA connectors and pins at both ends. Also try it with anothe PC to make sure it is not video problem in the PC.

fbwhite, Was your screen also BLANK, along with it being BLACK? The flashlight test would have told you! Yes, it could be both, or just BLACK. If the screen flashes on for a second hen turs black, the problem will be more likely in the power supply with bad caps, or inverter circuits are bad, and worst case will be bad lamps. It's seems your backlight inverter it about to burnt out... 3 years old! It's time for a new inverter.

Repair the power supply.

Where the footpiece joins up with the screen, you'll find a round cover from left to right which just clips in. carefully squeeze the ends and pull away untill released. under the cover you'll find four screws that holds the footpiece and screen together. Good Luck, jus004

It doesn't appear to accept a standard VESA mount to enable mounting on anything other than the supplied stand.
