Error 3 paper Jam, but there is no paper jam

Error 3 - after cleaning, blowing out with air, still get E3 after one page printing

  • azziejo42 Apr 08, 2008

keeps flashing the E3 paper jam, but now it's not even taking paper at all, it just won't print and tells me there is a paper jam and to remove paper jam before it will print. But there's no paper anywhere and I've tried everything to get it to work. It's just not even taking paper anymore. In the beginning it took a little bit, but now it just won't even start to print.

Don't know if it's the same problem i had but its maybe worth a try. My paper went in a little, the wheels were turning but it didn't take the rest of the paper or print.
Someone replied to my problem, i tried it and it fixed 1st time. Also seems to of worked for others
Solution:- Use a piece of thin card, a magazine cover is what i used, make sure its A4 size then try to print something, as the paper starts moving push it through!! and hey presto it worked for me, everything printing fine now.
hope it works, let me know, Garty

Hello, Welcome to FixYa!

E3 error is mostly because of paper jam. their may be small bit paper jam in side
There are some "micro-sensors" that detect a paper jam. There will be tiny piece of paper, or a lump of dust, inside those sensors, thus "tripping" the sensor and saying you paper jam.

To solve it
Open printer cover and check to make sure no paper or foreign objects obstructing the printer feeder

If you become sure that now really there is no paper, dust or foreign objects then
Turn the printer off, and disconnect the AC power-cable. Open the printer cover & now give the printer a "blow-job" by compressed air.
If still problem exist then best & final option is to just contact to any Canon service provider

Anymore help regarding the issue, I am here to help

Check the paper feed tray for bent papers. Also, try blowing over the sensors to clear any debris. Check for small pieces that may have been left behind. If all fails, unplug it from the outlet, then start it up. Good luck!

My Canon pixma mp150 sometimes won't print (document remains in print queue). Sometimes it will print one page but will stop with an alternate flashing "E" and "3", followed by a popup...

Welcome to Fixya

Error E3 is a paper jam error. Check the unit if there are foreign object stucked inside. Blow compressed air to clear any blockage inside the unit. You may try to install the printer software if you still have the original disc that came with it for the drivers.

Flashing E3 error code for a paper jam

I had the same problem with my mp 160, Error message was blinking. I tried to print but the printer would take 1/10 of the whole page and stop, even though rollers were moving. My solution for this was to take a piece of thin cardbord(I used a magazine cover), cut it in a size of A4, put it in printer, printed it and when the rollers start moving I forcebly pushed the cardboard through. Now it seems to work fine. Hope it does for you.

CANON PIXMA MP160 E3 error

I work in a shop repairing these printers and have had a large number with the same fault - displaying E-3 with no jam in the paper path. This is caused by a broken part in the paper feed mechanism that pevents the printer from taking the paper. The part located right at the bottom of the printer looks like two white gears connected together with a central spring. At present I am trying to find a supplier of the spare parts - will check back.
