Remove the rubber strip from each side. Open to access the bag. Slip a thin srcewdriver between the case and the small strip (that runs the lenght of the case) about 3/8 of an inch in. You should then be able to slip the strip out. Be careful when opening the case; you will need to reassemble it!

Disassebiling the unit body

It is fairly simple to get the unit apart, but putting the unit back together properly does require some mechanical expertise.

The unit is held together by the two side rails or "bumpers". Once these are removed, the unit will split apart in two halves.

  1. Ensure the unit is unplugged.
  2. Open the bag door, and remove the bag.
  3. With the bag door open, peel about one inch or so of the rubber from each of the side rails back
  4. Insert a tiny flat head screwdriver into the T shaped channel the side rail sits in and lightly tap it in about 3/4" or so
  5. Pull the side rail out using a needle nose pliers. Repeat for the other side.
Once you have the side rails removed, your Electrolux 7000 unit is easiest to disassemble and reassemble if laying on its top. Remove the bottom half of the housing first.

Here is a quick video of the disassembly.

I would recommend taking the unit to an Aerus dealer or a local professional repair shop for any major repairs.

The vacuum is hard to manuever; too much suction sound for less suction quality; I've cleaned the unit and replaced the filter. Is it the belt?

Probably it is but vacuum motor and its associate mechanical parts should also be check and clean.
Clean the motor, if suction is still less, then the motor brushes is already wear and need to be replace.
Put back what you disassemble and bring it back together. You must be observant when doing that.
Thanks for asking.

Bissell 8920/9500 ProHeat 2X The Floor Cleaner base doesnt spray any liquid. I would take the base apart(and possibly trigger assembly), but the manual does not cover disassembly and assmbly of the tubes...

I just repaired my Bissell 8960 no spray from the base or the flex hose nozzel. Tried to find a diagram or service manual online but no luck. I removed the 2 jets that spray on the brushes and
there was small pieces of silt that would plug them up. only used this unit twice before but it's been
sitting in the basement for a year. anyways ending up takeing the unit all apart. All of the items you
need to get to are in the base not in the handle sections (except of course the spray switch) I put the whole thing on my large work bench to make it easier to work on. If you do take it apart make sure to take alot of pictures or you may not get it back together again. I labeled the hoses with different colored tape and was glad I did.The main problem was the 700 watt heater that is in the very bottom of the base. it was filled with white specs of silt. the heater can be removed and opened up so you can wash it out with a water and a brush. We have city water here thats supposed to be pretty good but know I know why the wife uses distilled water in her iron. Thats what I will be useing from now on in the Bissell..

How do I repair my Electrolux Lux 9000 cannister electrical cord retraction? It was pulled out as far as it would go and now it doesn't retract.

First, try standing vacuum on it's back end. Gently pull on cord and release. Try this a few times.
If this doesn't work, you'll need to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and let the service tech repair it. Although it's relatively easy to disassemble, reassembling correctly is trickier. I've had several machines come into the shop disassembled because the owner couldn't figure out how to put it together again.
Also, when taking the cord rewinder apart, there's a risk of breaking tabs that hold it together.

4931375.jpg af5d9a3.jpg The disassembly procedure with photos for this portion of the steam vac is shown in the first image below. This should help you tear down the unit to a point where you can determine the cause of your problem. The wiring diagram is provided in the second image. You may need this diagram to check the wiring if the motor for the brushes is not running. You can view a parts diagram and order parts for the steam vac on the Sears PartsDirect website.
