TechDrive power assist fell off

The techdrive power assist fell off my vacuum and I am not sure how to put it back together. I have taken apart the underside of the vacuum but can't figure out how the pieces fit together to make the techdrive unti work properly. Any ideas? Not sure if I can easily fix it myself or if I need to take it in to a repair shop. Thanks.

See if THIS helps.
Not sure how far you went disassembling the unit so here are a few more useful articles that you may want to see:

Broken techdrive

Your Transmission fork has becime disconnected. You need to pull the transmission and make sure that it is installed correctly, Check the following and pay attention to picture number 17. I had the exact same problem which occurred because I dropped the Kirby hard after lugging it down the stairs, it is a very easy fix and I am a banker, not a repair guy. Good Luck! http://www.goodvac.com/kb_results.asp?ID=16

The foot pedal to go from drive to nuetral on my G series fell off and i cant seem to get it back in

The pedal assembly must be replaced,( part # 558401S), as it has a gear pressed to it which has come loose. The handle, switch plate, and upper motor cover must be removed first. To remove the plastic switch plate, remove it's screws and insert a flat screwdriver into the rectangular slot in it to pop it off. Four screws hold the upper motor shell in place. Next the switch button must be removed. The Techdrive assembly can be removed by removing the three screws on the bottom. Drop the drive down, and unhook it's belt from the gear on the end of the armature shaft. The pedal assembly can be removed by removing the remaining screw from the bottom of the drive unit. The N/D pedal has two parts - the pedal itself, and the shift cam. Observe carefully how these units fit together. After installing the new pedal and replacing the screw and washer to secure it, re-install the drive unit. The shift must be in the Drive position to install it, and remember to replace the belt. Be sure to line up the arm on the drive unit so that it engages the slot at the base of the handle pivot and re-install the other items.

Kirby g5 techdrive n/d pedal came off will not stay on

The pedal will need to be replaced. A shift mechanism pressed on the end of the shaft has come off and cannot be re-installed. The drive unit must be removed from the machine, and the pedal assembly and shift cam can then be replaced. This may not be a do-it-yourself repair, as a good deal of disassembly is required.

The TechDrive Pedal on my Kirby G6 fell out of the back of my vacuum cleaner. I removed the screws from the metal plate one the bottom to try to see if something had come a loose. Can you send me a diagram...

This requires removal of the transmission assembly and replacement of the pedal assembly - it cannot be repaired. The handle and upper motor shell must be remove to access the transmission assemby. There are two screws in front, and two under the plastic switch plate.

The headlight on my Kirby doesn't work!

A few problems exist in this situation.
A. Is the bulb you put in a genuine kirby part?
If not it is probally not the correct anperage.
B. Are the little medal pieces on the end lined up correctly? If not adjust and retry.
C. The socket the bulb fits into is bad. In that case call 1-800-948-1358 mon.-fri. 9am-6pm est
sat.9am-2pm est and ask for josh or buck to order the socket.

Kirby G5 Techdrive pedal

Kirby N/D pedal is an assembly that can not just come out. So I would say that it is most likely broken. See THIS ITEM and if the part that was left on the floor is just a part of what you see in the picture then it is broken.
It is possible to assemble it back together but usually it falls apart again fairly quick and it is hard to get the angle at which pedal must be reassembled. We usually do not mess with it.

Good Luck
