Try turning your printer off, wait for 10 seconds, then turn it on again. If nothing changes, I think you should check your cartridges. Remove them from your printer and gently wipe the contacts with a dry cloth, then put them back in. If that doesn't help either, one of the cartridges might be dead. The symptoms you described point pretty much to that conclusion. Try taking out one of the cartridges and see if the paper sign is still blinking. Do the same with the other cartridge. The one that prints is fine, the other one should be replaced and that should fix your problem.
I hope my comment was useful!

I have a problem. When I turn on my printer, the first symbol from top constantly blinks and it doesn't print anything. How can I solve this issue?

Welcome to FixYa!

If the first symbol on the top is constantly blinking as shown in the picture below, It means that a paper or a foreign object has jammed your printer.

jas247_22.gif

Jam can occur in 3 areas. Please refer to the image below.
1. Internal Areas
2. Input Trays
3. The Output Bins
jas247_23.gif

To clear the jam, turn the printer off and disconnect the power cord. Be careful not to tear the paper in case of a paper jam. If a small piece of paper remains in the printer, it could cause additional paper jam.

Let's clear out the Internal Areas first. Push the button to open the print-cartridge door, and then remove the print cartridge. To prevent damage, do not expose the print cartridge to light. Cover it with a piece of paper. Please refer to the image below.

jas247_24.gif
If jammed paper is visible, grasp it with both hands and slowly pull it out of the printer. Please refer to the image below.
jas247_25.gif
If no paper was jammed inside the print-cartridge door, open the Output Bin or the back door
of the printer. To avoid damaging the printer, do not attempt to clear a jam in the top output bin by pulling the paper straight out.
jas247_26.gif
Again, if jammed paper is visible, grasp it with both hands and slowly pull it out of the printer.
If no paper or foreign object is visible, close the back door of the printer.

Next, let's take a look at the Input Tray. (We have already taken out the print cartridge.)
Lift the Tray 1 roller cover, grasp the jammed paper or foreign object, and slowly pull it out of the printer. Please refer to the image below.
jas247_28.gif
If no jammed paper is or foreign object is visible, open Tray 2 and see if a paper is visible. Again remove it slowly with both hands. Please refer to the image below.
jas247_29.gif
Close Tray 2.
If no jammed paper is visible in the second tray area, pull down the upper media guide (we have already taken out the print cartridge). With both hands, grasp the jammed paper and slowly pull it out of the printer. Please refer to the image below.
jas247_30.gif
Close the upper media guide and return back the print cartridge. Please refer to the image below.
jas247_27.gif

These steps should clear out any jams that you are experiencing.
Connect back the power cord again and turn on your printer. You should be able to print now.

Thanks for using FixYa. Keep me posted.

I have an HP 1022N and the top yellow light with triangle with exclamation mark symbol inside is blinking and printer won't function. How to fix?.

According to the user manual the triangle lamp blinking is an indication that the error needs user intervention. The possible causes are the ink cartridge door is not closed completely, out of paper, no ink cartridge, or there is a paperjam. To fix these, click on the link below to download the user manual. This issue is posted on page 75. Hope this helps.

The light is blinking on the symbol that looks like a incomplete circle. What does this mean?

This usually means a paper jam. Remove and reinsert the print cartridge as well and look for any signs of paper that may be in the way of the paper path.

The symbol between the paper sign and the exclamation sign is on. this does not allow the printer to print.

That indicates that printer has a paper jam. Here's a link to the Lexmark website on how to clear paper jams on a Lexmark E240 printer. http://bit.ly/doZzSD. Just follow the instructions carefully. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, leave a comment and I'll get back to it. Thanks.

On the scanner and the plotter there is a exclamation point after the 24'' paper. The 24'' paper will not print, but all other paper does. any idea what the ! point means and is there an easy solution to...

It means that the paper is not available. A smaller size paper could have been loaded in the place of 24" roll, the plotter could have more paper trays/rolls configured than are actually installed, or the paper may not be what it says it is.

Paper won't feed

Inside of the machine is dirty.
If the inside of the machine is dirty, the printed paper may be smudged.
Follow the steps described below to clean the inside of the machine.
1. Ensure that the machine is turned on and there is no paper loaded in the Auto Sheet Feeder.
2. Place A4/Letter-sized plain paper in landscape orientation, horizontally fold it in half.
3. Unfold the paper, and load the paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder with the inverted-V edge down.

4. Select <Bottom plate cleaning> from <Maintenance>.
5. Select <Yes> on the Bottom plate cleaning confirmation screen and then press [OK].
Paper will be ejected.
If protrusions inside the machine are stained, wipe ink off the protrusions using a swab or such like.
* Important
Before cleaning, be sure to turn OFF the machine.
Paper feed roller is dirty.
Follow the steps described below to clean the paper feed rollers.
1. Ensure that the machine is turned ON and there is no paper loaded in the machine.
2. Select <Roller cleaning> from <Maintenance>.
3. Select <Yes> on the Roller cleaning confirmation screen and then press [OK].
The paper feed roller will rotate as it cleans.
4. Repeat this operation twice.
5. Load three or more sheets of A4/Letter-sized plain paper lengthways in the Auto Sheet Feeder.
6. Select <Roller cleaning> from <Maintenance>.
7. Select <Yes> on the Roller cleaning confirmation screen and then press [OK].
The paper that is loaded in the machine will feed through the machine and be ejected.
8. Repeat Steps 5 to 7 three times.
Inappropriate paper type is used.
Check to see if the paper you are printing on is too thick. See Paper Types You Cannot Use.
Note that smudging may occur at the top and bottom edges of the paper when using Borderless Printing. Ensure that the paper you are using is compatible with Borderless Printing.
Thick paper is used.
When printing on thick paper, set the Paper Thickness Lever to the right.
This widens the gap between the FINE Cartridge and the paper. Try this maneuver if the printed surface is scratched.
Media is curled.
If all four corners or the printing surface of the paper is curled, the paper may become dirty or may not feed properly. Use the paper after correcting paper curl as follows.
1. Place the printing surface face up (A), and cover it with a sheet of non-printing regular paper to avoid damaging the surface.
2. Roll up the paper in the direction opposite to the paper curl as per the figure below.
3. Check the printing paper to confirm if the paper curl is eliminated to within approximately 2 to 5mm / 0.08 to 0.2 in (B).
It is recommended to print on curl-corrected paper one sheet at a time.
The media type is not selected correctly in the printer driver.
On the [Main] tab of the printer driver, ensure that the [Media Type] selected matches the paper loaded.

In the [Print] dialog box of the printer driver, select [Quality & Media] from the pop-up menu, and then ensure that the [Media Type] selected matches the paper loaded.
Paper is loaded incorrectly.
Load in the portrait orientation regardless of the print direction of the Auto Sheet Feeder.
Ensure that paper is loaded correctly. Slide the paper guides against the paper stack.

The amber lights are blinking next to the printer icons and exclamation points on top of the printer. How do i get that to stop so my print job can go through?

There 3 light on the printer that able to indicate to user when problem occur.
37d307a.jpg
1st button light blink rapidly = the printer may be out of paper, so load more paper and press the 1st button itself to continue. Or may be paper jam is occur, so clear the paper jam and press the 1st button light itself to continue.

If 1st button light blink slowly = mean the cartridge carriers are stuck, so raise the scanner unit and remove any object blocking the path of the cartridge carrier, make sure the cartridge are closed and installed properly, then lift the scanner unit, gently push the scanner support towards the cartridge carriers, and carefully lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed. After that press the 1st button itself to continue.

If 2nd LED light blinking = the color cartridge need to be replaced soon.

If 2nd LED light is ON = the color cartridge need to be replaced immediately.

If 3rd LED light blinking = the black cartridge need to be replaced soon.

If 3rd LED light is ON = the black cartridge need to be replaced immediately.

I have a HP LaserJet 1320n printer and it will not print. An orange light keeps flashing by the triangle with an exclamation point in it. I printed a test page and it was okay. It will not print...

Possible Solution to your issue!

Blinking Attention Light HP LaserJet 1320 Series Printer - The printer displays an orange blinking attention light which will not clear. This usually indicates one of the following issues have occurred. Perform the following in the order provided to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
1. Insufficient power. Disconnect the power cord from any surge protectors or power strips and plug the unit directly into an electrical wall outlet.
2. There is a paper jam in the printer.
3. The top cover is open. Open the top cover, reseat the print cartridge, and close the top cover, making certain it is shut properly.
4. No paper was loaded in tray 2 or the tray was not loaded properly causing a mispick. Perform the following steps to load tray 2.
A. Pull the tray out of the printer and remove any paper.
B. Move the blue side width guide outward to match the paper size that is being loaded. Locate the blue guide pointer on the left side of the tray. If using a letter-size (8.5 by 11 inch) paper, match the guide point with the LTR/LGL engraving located on the bottom, left-side of the lift plate.
C. Locate the blue tab on the rear paper-length guide. Locate the triangle-shaped pointer in the middle-right on the bottom of the tray. Press on the blue tab and adjust it so that the triangle-shaped pointer matches the paper size that is being loaded. If using letter-size (8.5 by 11 inch) paper, match the triangle-shaped pointer with the LTR engraving on the bottom of the tray.
D. Place the paper in the tray and make sure that it is flat at all four corners. Keep the paper below the height down arrows on the paper-length guide in the rear of the tray.
E. Slide the tray back in the printer.
5. The tray 2 paper level indicator is stuck.
6. If the printer comes back to a Ready state, print a Self-Test/Configuration page. If the printer is not in a Ready state, proceed to step 7.
A. Verify the printer is in a Ready state. (The green LED next to the U-shaped icon is on steady and no other lights are on.)
B. Press down on the green GO button until the orange Attention light comes on (approximately 5 seconds), and then immediately release the GO button. The green GO button will begin to blink and a Self-Test/Configuration page will print.
7. If the attention light is still on, perform a cold reset. A cold reset, sets most, but not all, default variables stored in NVRAM back to the factory default values. It typically does not reset the page count, paper tray sizes, localization language, or formatter number. Complete the following to perform a cold reset.
A. Turn the printer off.
B. Press and hold down the green GO button.
C. Turn the printer on and continue to hold the green GO button for at least 5 seconds, but not longer than 15 seconds. During the process, the Attention LED will turn on.
D. Release the GO button.
NOTE: If both the Attention light and the Ready LEDs turn on before the GO button is released, the cold reset procedure must be started over at step 1.
E. The printer LEDs begin cycling. The cold reset process runs until completion and the printer returns to the Ready state

Flashing triangular light with the exclamation mark inside it.

Clear the printer queue on the computer (double-click the printer icon in the tray or in the Printers and Faxes folder and cancel all documents listed). Then power off the printer and disconnect the power - remove the paper from the paper tray until you have the printer memory cleared as to not waste paper.
