Check one of the followings:
Paper jammed anywhere visible? Rollers, etc?
All the trays are closed properly?
Toner, Drum Unit or the Fuser Unit don't need changing?

See if you can print out the Printer Status of the Printer from it's menu which would give you some statistics of what needs to be replaced etc.

Contact your HP Dealer nearest you to fix that problem, it could still be under warranty so there'll be no added cost to you.

All the best!

How to make 2600n print in black only when color s are deleted

Go to the "properties" and/or "nose" around for a screen that will give you the option to print in gray and/or black. It's there. Sometimes you have to go to the "advanced" functions.

Hp 2840

The machine is telling you that there is something wrong with one of your toner cartridges. If you recently installed a remanufactured cartidge the builder didn't replace the smartchip on the nose. If your using OEM (HP) orginal cartridges you may have got a power surge that has knocked out the memory on the toner cartridge.

Try to bypass the error. Attempt to print a "Supply Status" page from the printer. It will tell you exactly which one is at fault.

Here's a link for a free service manual for the printer that could also be of some assistance.

Hope that helps you. If so hit me with a FIXYA! Thanks :)
