I have the scandisk brand usb 512mb flash memory. [not mp3 player] and it doesn't have any button for write/read protection. Now I have the same problem "write protected"....when I want to take or remove files from it. It can't be formatted. So what's the solution. I had a twinmosk 128mb also. I was damaged with the same problem..

My File System is Now In RAW and not FAT32!! WHAT!!? There is no Right Click Properties to Uncheck a Read Only Box because there are no Boxes under properties for This Disk (all others there is) It's a PNY Attache 4GB and they have a LOW LEVEL Format Link that doesn't connect to anything except their homepage. Zero Help from them regarding their product.

I have a basic player, i.e., without microSD card, I have  just purchased it.
When I erroneously added .vob files it copied to the main memory but does not delete saying it is write-protected. Can anyone help me please to tide over the problem?

I'm trying to spread the news on how I fixed mine just this morning with the same problem. I can't believe how many people have the same problem.

I have heard to format--didn't work for me. I have heard to switch the write-protection button on the side--mine doesn't have one.
I heard to make sure your mp3 is not in 'pause' or 'hold' mode--THAT WORKED FOR ME! It was so simple. I had been messing with the buttons so much I must have put it in pause. Please try it. Good luck.

Yes people please help my zen stone plus doesn't want to transfer any more and i dont think i have a hold button. If you know a simple way of removing the write-protection without installing anything or whatever that would be great.

To whom it may concern,

I have a 2 GB PNY attaché Optima Pro flash drive. When I try to save anything on the flash drive it tells me that it is right protected. I hate to destroy it and throw it away, because it's a good flash drive. I'm trying to get an answer from somebody on how to fix it. If you give me an answer. I really would appreciate it very much.

I think a solution to all this is that if we all work as a team to solve this, it can be easy for all of us because everyone can come with an idea and we can see what we can do to that issue and it can be easy for eveyone to decide if it is a good idea or should we all try something else because if you just sit back and do nothing, none of your problems will be solved because you are not asking for any help from any one, so guys if you think that this story is useless just email me to tell me that is it good or not

SOURCE: how to remove write protected

There must be a little tab somewhere, if you move it you unlock the write protection.
Sometimes it has a little padlock sign.

There should be a very small slide switch along the edge of the card. Sliding this one way will lock (write protect) or unlock the card.
