if there is still water in drum the door wont open try tilting the machine back so the water is not touching the door and wait for a click that normly works
We have a proforma toploader washing machine and when using the machine in makes a very loud grinding noise during the spin and wash cycle. On occassion it also does not spin the clothing out properly, however the machine is still usable.
Most noises from a washing machine occur during
the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of
clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the
clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
On the transmission there are two shift arms. One shift arm controls the agitator and the other shifts to spin the cloths. If the washer has been making a "clicking" sound when it trys to spin, the solenoid that shifts the spin shift arm is not catching and the drum will not spin. The other possibility is the spin clutch is slipping and make a "grinding/ratcheting" sound. Neither, unfortunately are inexpensive to fix.
If you can describe the sound and when it occurs, I might be able to get closer.
Let me know.
Regards,
Hello, could be a possible bad pump. I would lean the washer back so you can see the belt. take the belt off and spin all of the pulleys. the pump pulley has a s leave that sometimes makes a grinding noise.
Unblock the outflow pipe from the machine that goes into the sump under the sink. (have a pot ready for water overflow) This will help drain the water. If the spin cycle is making a screetching sort of noise then it is possible that the carbon brushes will need changing. This affects the spinning if the brushes are worn.
Is this unit new? I had a frigidaire that would really get to going on the spin cycle. Got the clothes really dry and sounded like a jet engine if no clothes were in it. Is it a whisling sound or screeching sound...The sound could be coming from the water pump. It may have something in it that is dragging. Some you can take the bottom off of and clean them out..
