Maytag MAV6257AWW Washer

Fills with water, then when time to agitate it makes this noise, and does not agitate.
Some times does not spin on first rinse spin, you have to reset to have it work.
Close are dirty because of no agitation.

    sounded like the tub was off set or uneven cloths when trying to agitate. Or gears hitting each other.

Washer machine filled with water then about 10 minutes into wash just stopped. Doees not respond in anyway. model # mav6257aww

    1. It is quite possible that the Thrust Bearing is worn out. Thrust bearing and associated parts are located above the pulley on the bottom of the transmission.



    These are the parts inside the square.

Maytag PAV2300AWW Washer makes grinding sound when agitating
Sounds like it is the bearing on the water pump. Take off back plate and replace and remove 3 screws and two hoses (the one hose is a waste line so make sure you have a bucket to empty our waste water) after removing these remove belt on bottom of pump.

sounds like you have a broken lid switch on the washer, maybe someone slammed the door or placed or stood on top of the washer, a broken lid switch won't allow washer to go into spin mode is a safety device so if is on spin cycle an someone sticks their hand it the machine stops an not breaks your hand.

it is not a maytag washer machine it is G.E it fills fine with water it also drains and spins but does not agitate.

Agitates but won't do anything in spin mode, won't drain
If it has a mechanical timer, that's most likely your problem. Not a hard fix. Most any "Do It Yourself" book can be used to show you how to swap timer. Getting one may be your biggest problem.
If it agitates, it's not the motor. You said the time seems to stop.

Loud grinding motor protesting humming w/no spinning or agitating
The drum/agitator bearings are bad I believe, or the gearbox has been damaged. This is an expensive repair. I would strongly consider buying a new washer. This is a great time to buy appliances since the stores are really competing, and the prices are at their lowest.

Maytag Atlantis MAV6257AWW
I have a Maytag Atlantis MAV6257AWW. I need to replace the transmission. So I removed all four screws from the inner tub but I couldnt get the inner tub pull out, it's stuck.

From what I read on here, the seal nut doesn't have to be remove in order to remove the inner tub.

I tried every, I even hammer the shaft down from the inside of the tub but still no luck. Can someone help, thanks.
