Question about Maytag Atlantis MAV6260AWW Top Load Washer

Water fills but does not agitate or spin

My Maytag Atlantis fills with water and then doesn't agitate or spin cycle. The unit makes no noise at all. I will position the dial all over the place after the drum has filled up and will get nothing. If I increase the water level size, it will respond to that and then again I get nothing else. Please help. Thanks, Doug

I suspect the switch since if I drop the lid it will start to fill. How do I get inside to check the switch connections?

THIS UNIT HAS A DOOR SAFETY SWITCH WICH ALLOWS WATER TO COME IN BUT NOTHING ELSE TO HAPPEN IF THE DOOR IS OPEN I WOULD START BY CHECKING THIS SWITCH.

Top Loader? That sounds like a gearbox problem. It is not an easy fix. With that much use and those many years, it is probably time for a new one. A new High Efficiency Front Loader, will save you a fortune in water, electricity and detergent.

Rinse and spin work just fine, but the wash cycle does not. is it the agitator? a belt? how do we fix this...

Won't start

if it filled proplerly and won't start now, it sounds like the door switch is broken, there could be something wrong with the rest of the electrical systems, however i would suggest the switch first. If there is a lot of noise like its trying to run, then its probably your transmission.

Washer will drain water, however, will not agitate or spin. Makes loud knocking noise during the spin/agitate cycles with no movement. I'm told tranny problem. Anything else it might be? Thank you.

Maytag Atlantis 7700 - Noisy agitation/wash cycle from motor

Your drive motor may be fine. Check the water pump that is located in the back behind the small metal door on the left bottom corner and see if thats where your noise/water is coming from. These extraction pumps have bearings casing that gets mangled and locked up. Look right above the flywheel that the belt rides on in the W-pump.
