They start with hot or warm ,what/ever the setting and rinse with cold water. Check the temperature adjustment and the cycle it's on as some do different things on different cycles.

Washer does not allow hot water to enter machine when you press the heavy duty button. Regular warm cycle or hot works fine. Replaced the water valves, main control panel.

Hi,

This is a common question we face daily. Certain washing machines allow hot water to enter only during certain cycles. Others allow hot and cold to enter intermittently. Consult your owner's manual to be absolutely sure about this. If you're sure the machine isn't working the way it used to--or should--try these tests:
Is the hot water turned on? If not, turn it on.
Is the washer getting cold water but no hot water? If so, check to see if the control panel
settings are correct.

Our washing machine is putting out hot water when the temprature setting is on cold ...and cold water when it is on hot. All rinses are hot. What part could be bad?

The water temperature is incorrect The temperature of the incoming water determines the temperature of the water in your washer. You get either hot, cold, or a mix of the hot and cold water that's currently available to the machine. So if the cold water that enters the machine is very cold--or if the hot water entering the machine is very hot--the warm water is affected. If you live in a Northern climate, unless you adjust the hot and cold water taps that supply water to your washer, the warm water supplied to your washer is usually hotter during the summer months and colder during the winter months.

No water enters on rinse cycle

I was partially wrong on my diagnosis. No cold water enters on either the wash or the rinse cycles. I also heard odd noises from the inlet valves. I realized the cold water valve was not opening. I've ordered the mixing valve and plan to replace it as soon as it comes in.

Hot water goes into cold water washes

It is normal for the machine to cycle between hot and cold water when filling even if selecting a cold cycle. The reason for this is because even a cold cycle requires the water temperature to be 78F for the soap to break up efficiently.

During the cold months the water in your pipes is probably less than 78F so the machine will need to add some hot water to bring it up to this temperature. Basically, it is adding cold and then hot water to maintain a temperature in the tub of 78F for cold water cycles.

Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

Washer will won't run cold water cycle

If you're sure the machine is not working the way it used to--or should--check the following.

  • Is the cold water turned on? If not, turn it on.

  • Is the washer getting hot water but no cold water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct.

(The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you need to replace the valve.

  • Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

    Water temperature

It sounds like your water inlet valve (also known as a Mixing Valve on some washers) HOT solenoid is sticking open. When you select either a hot or cold wash cycle, separate solenoids open or close to allow only cold water to enter the washer on the cold wash cycles and hot water to enter on the hot cycles. If the hot solenoid stays open, you will have hot water mixing with your cold water during the cold cycles. The result is warm water. I would recommend you replace the water inlet valve. This is a job the average DIYer can do. Please post back with your model number and I can assist you with locating a part number and/or give you specifics on how to access the valve to replace it.
