I am not a big believer in cobbling, but they always brag up JB Weld to be able to repair anything metal. It may be worth a try, build it up and file it down so the coupler will fit on. The other option would be a MIG welder and keep spot welding till it is built up. Extreme caution would have to be taken so you don't get the shaft too hot and ruin the seal.
