Fax problem my Canon Pixma MP830 has never faxed reliably. I generally get an incomplete transmission. I have gone through all the steps in the manual and have never been able to solve my problem. Sometimes a fax goes through and sometimes it doesn't. I have no problem receiving a fax.

those noises you hear are line noises via your phone line, not machine related but they wreak havoc on faxing. first you need to replace the actual line connecting the fax machine to the wall. If this doesn't fix the problem then have your phone lines tested. also make sure your machine is set for digital or analog service, depending on which you have. Good Luck.
Place the document you want to fax in the automatic document feeder (on top) face up. You can fax from the "platen" (the part with the glass) by placing face down.
The telephone wire goes in the "L" hole and then to your telephone wall jack Your cable to the computer goes in the other slot next to the "L" hole and then to one of the USB ports on the back of the computer. you can print a report to see if it was successful bu going tomenu and following the steps. You can always go to Canon and search and download a manual. Good luck
