I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN ON SOCIAL SECURITY. HP.COM TRYING TO PUSH NEW COMPUTER PURCHASE, BUT I HAVE TWO LASER JET 1100S THAT WORK FINE BUT WON'T RECEIVE MESSAGES FROM MYCOMPUTER. HAVE OLD HP DOWNLOADS ON COMPUTER( CAN I REMOVE THESE WITHOUT DAMAGE - FROM 2000-2005)

DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT ERROR MESSAGE. MAYBE MY COMPUTER POP-UPS WERE BLOCKED BY SPYWARE AND NORTON VIRUS 2008 INSTALLED BY "COMPUTER WHIZ" IN MY BUILDING. BUT HE TALKS TOO FAST AND ZIPS THROUGH THINGS TOO FAST AND COSTS TOO MUCH FOR ME ON SOCIAL SECURITY.

Yes I am trying to send a print job to the printer. No the printer lights don't blink when I send a job, I get an error message. When I try to download the windows XP driver to my computer it is not completed because it says I need to pop-up window to complete the job. Why is that? I'm assuming the reason the printer doesn't blink when I send the job is because my driver is out of date. Is that true? Let me know?

Hi, Are you trying to send a print job to the printer ? Does the printer lights blink when you send a job ? Or are you just getting a pop up message on the pc?

  • Anonymous Dec 05, 2007

I'm wondering if your antivrus, adware etc.. Is causing the issue? Can you tell me exactly what driver for the HP 1100 your trying to download? Such as the PCL 5, PCL 6 etc.. . As far as the drivers being out of date I wouldn't think that is causing an issue but the driver could be bad? Have you always used xp when printing to this printer?

When downloading a printer driver from HP you will need to ensure that you are selecting the correct OS (eg. Windows 7) and the appropriate version (eg. 64 or 32 bit operating system). These drivers are different and using one on the other will not work.
Windows XP drivers also will not work properly in a Windows 7 environment and the majority of Windows XP drivers are 32-Bit.

I have windows xp 2002 service pack 3, I think. I get a pop up that says to update my browser to xp 7 or firefox. What are the pros/cons and how do I do this. Your dealing with a senior citizen!!

If you still have IE6 then it has become a security hole and it's no longer accepted anywhere- you should update immediately to IE8, the latest version.
After you do that you must perform a full update of Windows.

If you’re new Toshiba laptop is running windows vista, the answer is yes. You will need to go to www.hp.com and click on the support tab. This will allow you to type in your model number of you printer so you can download the latest drivers for the printer. After you type in you model number and click search, the website will ask you what version of windows you are running. The options cover both Vista and windows XP. Just pick and you will be able to download the driver with software or just the driver.

Senior citizen, little computer smarts and no grandchildren in area to help me get older HP Photosmart HP C7200 All-in-One software to work with my HP Pavilion/Ordinateur PC with Vista Home Primium....

Tom,

Here is a link for the driver and other software for your printer using Vista.

C7200 Vista Downloads

You have the choice of downloading the basic driver, full feature software or order a CD with it on it. If you have broadband, you may as well go Full Feature. If you only have dial-up you probably should order the CD. It's like $10.

If you decide to download, click on the file name. On the next page will be the button to "Download Only". When you click it, a small window will open and you should select Save. Another window will open and you will need to choose a place for the file to download to. (Desktop, temp folder, etc. If you want to keep it simple, just choose Desktop.)

After the download is complete, close the download window.

You should uninstall any current printer software on the computer. You should also click on Start>Printers and Faxes, then right-click on your printer icon and select Delete.

Disconnect your data cable from the printer, but leave the power on. Reboot the computer.

When it comes back up, double click the file on the desktop that you downloaded. Do not connect the data cable on the printer until the software prompts you. Once you connect and the computer recognizes it, you're home free. :-)
