System won't recognize downloaded driver, I have installed an update provided on HP's site, but it still won't work. trying to install on a windows 7 computer. had installed it earlier on a laptop with windows XP with no problem

HP does not have software or driver downloads available for your computer with Windows 7. HP provides software and driver updates for the operating system that originally came with the computer. Changing the operating system on your computer (upgrading or downgrading), puts the system into a configuration that might not work with the hardware design. If you you must change the operating system, get drivers from the manufacturer of the component you need. For example, if a computer has NVIDIA video hardware and was upgraded to a newer version of Windows, someone would go to NVIDIA's web site to download and install an updated driver.

Did they install correctly in device manger? HP downloads can be exe's and have to be run instead of updating. Does this make sense?

Use the following steps to let Windows do the installation for you.

Step 1: Use an Ethernet cable and plug your computer directly to your Internet gateway. Make sure Internet is accessible.

Step 2: Place your new adapter in the proper slot or port.

Step 3: With your computer running, a bubble message will appear stating that this device was not installed successfully. Left click on the message.
But if the message no longer appears, skip to Device Manager Installation.
Step 4: On driver installation failure, you can change the setting to use Windows Update by clicking Change setting...
Step 5: Chose to allow Windows to update your driver when it is not found on you computer.
Step 6: Once the driver installs successfully, close the window.

Step 7: Click/Right Click on the Network Icon located on the system tray to View the Available Wireless Networks. Find your personal Network and double click to connect. It should request for a wireless key, which by now should have been set up.

INSTALL THE CORRCT VGA driver through the non corrupt CD. and reboot

HP created a software update to resolve this issue. Follow these steps to download and run this update.

1. Click this link, Windows 7 Critical Update to enhance reliability of network connection .
2. Click Download . A window opens with options to run or save the file. Click Run . Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.

have you downloaded the correct driver for xp? has your pc got the latest xp driver installer from microsoft installed? there is not a lot of the latest drivers for periphials that will work with xp cos there is no support. try using a older version i loved xp it was a good system but i could not get it to work with later drivers for printers etc.drivers

try updating your usb devices. also check whether your bios is updated. if not, download the bios from the HP site, key in your machine model then look for the bios and install it.

copy and past the link provided below to lead you to HP drivers/software. then choose which OS you use then downlaod the usb devices drivers and bios. After downloading, install the driver and it will ask you to restart your machine.
