Regular motor oil is incorrect, the pump has a metal tag that clearly states that it uses 75w90 gear oil, and fill up to the middle dot on the sight glass.

I have a duel tank porter cable air compressor Will not build pressure past 50psi. when i open the drain valve light coat of moisture mixed with oil sprayed out. whats wrong? Thanks

Moisture and oil in small amount is normal with oil type compressors, a by product. If there is no air leak between the pump and tank, suspect worn piston rings, worn out faulty valves, loose pump head.

Why is oil coming out the side of my pump, I just changed the oil and it started doing this? I own a Porter Cable 4,000 PSI.

You didn't state your model number so I don't know exactly which type pump you have. With that; there is no 'oil pressure' in power washer pumps. The internal parts work in an oil bath/splash environment and the pump body is vented, usually at the oil fill cap. Thicker oils and stop leak will only mask the problem and make the pump work harder. Where the oil is coming out is key to the problem. Clean the pump well with something like dish soap to remove all excess oil to find exactly where it's leaking. If it's leaking at a part joint, like the pump body to the valve body or at a bolt, you may have a bad gasket or cracked part. If it's coming out the oil cap a likely cause is there is too much oil in the pump. When oil gets hot it expands and will find a way out. If you have an oil site glass, make sure the site glass is only half full of oil. If it has a dipstick, make sure you have the right dipstick and only fill it to the full mark. Most pressure pumps only need to be half full but that is dependent on your particular pump. If you have it consult your owner's manual. If you don't have the manual you can go to http://servicenet.dewalt.com, search for your model number and see if the manual is still available.

Engine manual for the Porter Cable pcv 2250 pressure washer

If you need an engine manual, then look up the manual on the engine manufacturer's web site. eg Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Techumseh. Porter Cable manual would just have cart and pump info.

What grade of oil do you put in the pump not the engine

Pumps use a 30-weight non-detergent pump oil. Don't use motor oil.

Pump will not presure up

check your in take screen make sure its not plugged, look for calcium build up. then check your valve there should be six of them. my be damaged or weiring out and or plunged. if all looks good you'll need to check your unload-er valve. check your oil to make sure no water is in there, ok. good luck, let me know.

Hot water coming out of a cold water pressure washer

This sounds like a heat transfer problem

You should check that the oil reservoir for the pump has oil in it. It sounds like it may be low. Also, if it is a gas model, the engine oil may be low.

Remember the pump oil reservoir should be only 1/3 to 1/2 full of non-detergent oil.
