Check the printing options in the computer. I'd say there is an option that was checked thay you don't want. There should be a PDF owners manual that came with the software Cd. Check that too.
the problem lies with the catridge(ink).you might have not fit properly.
there is a protective cover in the outlet of the catridge please check weather you removed it.
I could make several suggestion to "fix" the problem, such as clean the timing strip, etc., but since your printer is still under warranty, I'd suggest contacting Canon for a repair / replacement due to a potential hardware problem. You shouldn't be getting a "Service error 5100" after a few months.
I am having the same problem. I am on my 3rd printer from Epson in 2 weeks.
The solution may be to buy another brand, but I have more in Epson ink & paper than I have in the printer.
Yes this is a common problem. Go to Epsons web site and download any updates and this will usaully fix it. If not reinstall your printer and then again check for updates.
i had the same problem as you i feel very upset with epson that they did not help you for me what i had to do is lay my printer on its side with the door to the toner facing you taking the toner out looking down into the bottom you will see a little plastic block wist it half way till it stops then reinsert the toner becarefull not to drop it in that shoud be fully fitted inside then put the unit back the right side up and start the printer up this shpuld fix your problem ok thanks
It's NOT a cartridge if this works... I had a similar problem with a 9600 I bought on eBay that had been inoperable over 18 months. Three colors would NOT clear up after multiple power cleanings. Epson support politely solved the issue at no charge on the phone... he had me drop a few drops of warm water on the pad the printhead rests on when not printing. You have to move the printhead to the left to do that by moving up the little lever near the cutter. The pad is easier to reach with a long eye dropper. I used very warm water- not boiling. I replaced the printhead over the warm water pad for an hour. Then I repeated the process and let it be for another 60 minutes. Then I did a nozzle check and what was gummed up yellow, cyan, and magenta nozzles became clear and it's worked fine since. Good luck!
