Screen Calibration problem with SteetPilot c330

Recently began experiencing problems with the touchscreen not responding accurately to touch locations near the top of the screen. In many cases this results in not being able to execute buttons or features if they are located near the top of the screen, instead the unit will respond like I touched a control much lower on the screen. It would seem to be a calibration issue, but I cannot find a means of re-calibrating.

i have the same problem and recalibration did not fix it.

  • Donn2 Mar 15, 2008

In the opening screen when I tap Where To? it acts as if I tapped View Map. I have to tap about 1/4 inch above Where To to get it to respond properly. Same with letters, have to tap above the letter.

i have the garmin c330 model . When i touch a letter when typing in an address an other letter appears, I recalibrated it and it didnt fix the problem, Can you help me?

  • uses parenth May 16, 2008

Touch screen response is inaccurate. Need to touch considerably above letter, number, or option. If desired letter, number, or option is at the top of the screen, it is not poasible to choose it.

When I touch a letter the next letter appears. It makes it hard to enter any address,

I'm having the same problem, I'm recalibrated the screen all the time, keep the screen from finger prints and it keeps loosing it's calibration every couple of days. Is there a way to open this up and fix it from inside ?

    thanks

I have a similar calibration problem as the other commenters. However, I cannot reach the calibration screen. From the "off" position, pushing and holding the power button brings up the logo screen and never changes from that.

    need to re calibrate

  • Anonymous Oct 13, 2008

I cleaned the screen, recalibrated and reset the unit, but nothing helped.

  • SwimsZoots Oct 14, 2008

I eventually contacted Garmin customer service about the problem and had the unit shipped back to them for servicing. It was promptly fixed and sent back to me. One of my better experiences with product service.

I have the same problem too. Mine still have Best Buy extend warranty but they cannot fix the problem. Right now it was the third time back to their service centre. I don't think they can fix either. Anyway don't buy any extend warranty if it is not directly from the manufacturer. Just waste money.................and Gamin ??????????

Turn off the unit. Then hold down the power button for about 1 minute and the calibration screen will eventually come up.

I re-calibrated many times to no avail. Then tried a master reset (press lower right corner of screen) and turn unit on. Continue to press on screen until message comes up that you want to delete all data. Say yes. In addition, pry off faceplate and you will see 4 small screws. I loosened those slightly and that has fixed my problem so far. If you want to preserve your data then might want to try loosening the screws first and see if that works. Good luck!

Try to calibrate the screen with a soft sharp object! try to find the best calibration! And for PNA devices, after calibration you can go to registry, search for "calibration", save coordonates, and then make a .reg file, that load the "calibration" settings into the regs when you start the device!

The C330 can be recalibrated by holding down the power button until the calibration screen comes up and then touching the dots on the screen.

Garmin 1300 touchscreen has no response when i press the map button it does not respond, some buttons do respond but most do not, the buttons that do work send me to the incorrect application

It sounds like your nuvi would benefit from a simple screen calibration. You do this as detailed on page 47 of the manual. Since it is a very short procedure - I have transcribed it here for you.

1) Shut off the nuvi.

2) Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds until the calibration screen appears (White screen with press dot").

Simply touch the dot as it moves on the screen. You might consider using a stylus or other relatively pointed object for the most accurate results.

That's it! If this was helpful, please rate it as such. Thanks & good luck!

Garmin c330

Try to calibrate the touch screen. Push and hold the power button on until you see a white dot on the screen. This is the calibration mode. Touch the dot and another dot will apppear, now touch this dot again, keep doing this until the unit reboot.

If you touch the 1st dot and nothing happens then the digitizer on the LCD is dead. If the unit is still under warranty, get a RMA and return it to Garmin.

Touch screen touchiness

Yes! I have an iWay 500C and all of a sudden, it started having serious calibration issues. I try to press a button on it and it thinks I'm pressing something about 2 inches below where I really am. I can't even get to the option to re-calibrate it when it does this, since the recalibration menu option is near the top of the display! I still have to experiment more, but the last time it did this, I think I had success by powering the unit on, waiting for it to finish getting a "fix" on the location (so the processor in it wasn't so busy), and then drawing a few big circles around the display with my finger. After that, it seemed to "snap into calibration" again.
