Hi,

Ever have blinking lights on your printer that just will not go away? Ever install a new ink cartridge in your printer and it still thinks the old one is there? you can try one simple thing: unplug it. The first thing to remember about this solution is that unplugging the printer is not the same as turning the printer off. If you have error messages or cartridge communication problems, then turning off the printer is not going to do anything. It has to be physically unplugged from the wall or the back of the printer itself (you don’t have to unplug the printer from the computer). The second and most important thing is that the printer must be unplugged for at least one minute. I am sure, you will solve your memory problem.

Thanks

How do i clear the fax memory? i can only send a few pages at a time without the fax not working and i think it's because the memory is full

most fax machines will show receiving memory left or transmit memory left, if it showing receiving memory full make sure there are no paper jams and there is lots of paper in paper cassettes and it will start to print all the faxes in memory... if its transmit memory, you will need to clear those documents in memory to be sent, probably waiting in que....

I don't want to add memory. is it possible to erase memory?

Your posting is a little unclear, but let me answer with the information you have provided.

You have a brother multifunction printer and you have instructions for adding memory.

the memory in the printer is referred to as "volitile" which means that it holds informaiton as long as there is electricity put to it. If you would like to clear the memory, simply unplug the machine for about 30 seconds.

if you have a problem and are being directed to fix that problem by adding memory, then the print job that you are sending to the printer is too large for the amount you have loaded in it.

try printing fewer pages.

good luck

Need to clear my memory....

This is in your user guide. please read below

If you get an Out of Memory message while
scanning a subsequent page, you will have
the option to press Start to copy the pages
scanned so far, or to press Stop/Exit to
cancel the operation.
To gain extra memory, choose one of the
solutions below:
􀂄 Print the faxes that are in the memory.
(See Printing a fax from the memory on
page 45.)
􀂄 You can turn off Fax Storage.
(See Turning off Remote Fax Options on
page 65.)
􀂄 Add an optional memory
(See Memory Board on page 98.)

Brother mfc-8860dn is locking up; when it is power on the fax button is on and you can not go to copy. No button will function.

Unplug it for 15 seconds then plug it back in. This will do a "hard reset" and will clear the static memory there by altering the settings enough to allow for the function of the bottons. Poke the bottons with your finger on the front of the machine. Then spew a mouth full of sea water onto the top of the device. This will do a "spirtitual reset" and clear the esoteric memory there by altering the very fabric of the universe itself right there where the machine lives in the universe causeing the machine to see things your way from now on.
