Tv is on lock mode

When an Insignia TV is locked, it keeps you from watching all of your channels by only displaying a black screen. Insignia TVs are locked from a single button command on the remote control, so it is easy for you to lock the TV by accident. Since Insignia TVs can be locked so easily, it's important to know how to undo this command and unlock the TV yourself. So, unlock your Insignia TV with the push of a button and once again enjoy watching your favorite programs.
• Find the lock button on the Insignia remote control. The lock button is located on the third column from the left on the second row from the top of the remote.

•Stand within operating range of the Insignia TV, then aim the remote at the TV's receiver and press the "Lock" button on the remote control.

• Aim the remote at the TV and press the channel buttons to make sure the TV is unlocked. When the TV is locked, it shows a black screen and does not allow you to view anything else. If the screen remains black, press the "Lock" button again. If this doesn't work, change the batteries in the remote and start over at step .

Check the following two procedures to unlock the tv.
1. Press and hold the display button on the remote for 5 seconds for unlocking the tv.. if doesnt help then,

1. Press VOL -- button on the frond panel of the tv and Child lock button on the Remote together. (remote should be faced to tv when you press the buttons)
2. Press MODE button on the remote
3. Using channel +/-- select chid lock
4. Enter New code
5. Press the mode button

MY KIDS WERE PLAYING WITH THE BUTTONS ON THE TV NOW WHEN I TRY TOO CHANGF THE CHANNELS OUR VOLUME TV BUTTON LOCK ORTV BUTTONED POPS UP.I DONT HAVE MY REMOTE SO WHAT IS ANOTHER METHOD?

On my 27" you need to press action and the channel button at the same time to unlock. Hope that helps!

There is a child lock button on the remote for the player. Just press it. Ray

Parental Lock Feature

Combo's, Screen will say VCR Lock Activated.
During stop or power off, hold the stop/eject button on the unit for at least seven seconds.

Combo's, Another method
With unit on and no cassette inside, hold the rec/time button on the front of unit for 7 seconds.

CTV's Lock Mode
Only the on/off button will work,the others have no effect. Press the action and power buttons at the same time on the front of the set for 10 seconds or so.

LCD TV's, Lock Mode
If customer forgot Parental Lock Code, unit must be re-initialized.
Press and hold the Volume down button on the front panel, press the OK button on the remote for 5 seconds.

DVD's Lock Mode
Setting Method
The sales demonstration lock function is set by simultaneously pressing the "POWER" button of DVD Player on the remote control unit and the "STOP" button on the main unit. ("LOCKED" is displayed when the lock function is engaged.)
Release Method
The function can be released using the same procedure as for setting. If the remote control unit is not at hand, the function can be released by using the same method as for player initialization (pressing the "PAUSE," "SKIP/SEARCH<<"and "OPEN/CLOSE" buttons simultaneously).

From the Owners manual: Open tray, Keep Pressing Rec and Play/X 1.3 buttons on the remote for 5 or more seconds.
Another servicer found resetting to defaults worked well.
(VCR>DVD Dub) + (Open/Close) + (DVD Rec)

any remote should work but i suggest a name brand like sony logitech or phillips because you dont want to have to replace this for a while and namebrands offer more functions than generics.

As for the dvd not playing dvds it appears the parental lock may be enabled preventing movies from starting after previews .

after you obtain the new remote and have programmed it scroll through the tvs set up menu to see if parental lock function is on if not drop me a line so we can narrow things down also try to push enter button on new remote if the play button doesnt start movie.

Try pressing the disply button and hold for three to 4 seconds. This is a quick way of locking all functions also .. Once the set is working press display and hold to relock it or to unlock it. Good Luck PS please dont forget to rate this thread.
