My Xbox 360 isn't recognising the Madcatz wireless steering wheel and pedals.
I've put batteries in the wireless steering wheel, X is flashing, Xbox won't recognise commands from steering wheel. Tells me to connect regular handheld wireless controller.

Vista has an issue with Xbox 360 controllers, let alone Madcatz copies. I would recommend buying an official wired controller for use with Vista. Alternatively you can you a Wireless Gaming Receiver specially designed for using Wireless Controllers on Windows based PC's.
You'll have to download the driver for the Steering Wheel onto that laptop, you can find it on Madcatz's website, madcatz.com. Just download the .EXE file and start it up, it will automatically begin installing the software onto your laptop that will allow you to use the steering wheel with it.
Here is the manual for your product(assuming its the mad catz wireless N adapter): http://www.madcatz.com/UsersGuides/4707-MUG.pdf
You connect it to the computer first. However you need to find the setup disk. I looked around for you and couldn't find it, my apologies, but read that guide and you should have no problem setting up your gaming adapter
some rockband wireless drumkits were faulty on release. they said to send them in and they would fix them at no charge. just go to the websites for the game it should still be up there. if not, i have a wired drumkit that works, just needs kick pedal im gonna get rid of for just shipping LOL.
OK, at least for my issues, after talking to MS support ...
Here was the issue with the Setup disc (Forza Demo): If it jumps into the demo ... the XBOX DOES NOT need to be updated.
As for not connecting to the XBOX (Sync'ing up the controllers) ...
You need to press the SYNC (located by the memory card slots)Button BEFORE you PRESS the SYNC button on the wheel controller. Once you do that (a step that is not clearly pointed out in the stupid an poorly written manual) all worked asa expected. A Simple hook-up procedeure that took 2 days because of a step that was not pointed out or not made obvious to the XBox Parents and non users.
