I received my r4i-sdhc and load it on my dslite and wham it boot up displayed it's name and under it the error message!
"system date error! please check NDS System date"
is it the r4i or what is?!?
PLEASE HELP!!!
I have a tempory method of fixing it!
Although this temporary the people at NDS are working for a solution i think. But until then you might just have to keep putting the date back.

I\'ve had this problem on all 3 r4i cards in our house. (they all had the same problem on the same day)
I followed a solution mentioned above about changing the system date to match the date of the last save file. This worked fine for a couple of days and then the problem recurred on 2 of the carts.
My theory is that it is a problem with the date 13th or 14th April (or maybe just after 12th April). I suspect it may be something to do with the difference between US and UK date formats but that is just a guess. Anyway, the 2 carts that had the error repeated I only changed the system date by a couple of days the first time after a couple of days they hit that dreaded date (13th April) again. The 3rd DS is used less frequently so the system date was changed to March sometime, hence no repeat of the problem.
To fix the problem this time I just set the system dates to before 13 April and that solved the problem.
Bit of a long post but hopefully that\'ll be a quick fix for someone and maybe if the developers are reading this, chance of a quicker fix.

Hi,
Just change the date back and wait for a new kernel update.
See the message below from the manufacturer.

Due to the fault of our R4 team, except R4(I) SDHC V2.0,all the kernels can not work normally base on the date after 14th, April, 2010. The issues are the system date error and when you booting up the consoles, you couldn\'t enter into the main manu. We are awfully sorry for this. The temporary solution is to adjust your system date before 14th, April, 2010. R4 team will remedy this bug with the latest kernel and do the activity to reward the consumers! The latest information for this activity will be released at www.r4isdhc.com and www.nds9.com. Please pay more attention to this!

To solve problem:
1.go to this link http://www.r4i-sdhc.com/downloade.asp
2.if ur r4i has v1.4 written on it then download the item on the top of the left column . if ur r4i doesnt have v1.4 written download the item on the top of the right column .
3. once downloaded extract all the files onto your desktop(or anywhere else).
4. delete all items on ur micro sd except the games.
5. now copy and paste the extracted files and folders into the micro sd .
if u followed the instructions carefully then ur r4i should be working fine now

Had the same issue. Think it is solved, so far.
Dowloaded the latest card software from http://r4i.co.uk/r4 - but make sure you get the right one. opied all the media from the R4 memory card to a secure location on my PC (also R4 software and directories in case it all went wrong), then did a quick format of the card. Installed the latest card software onto the memory card. Made sure the time/date etc of the DS was correct before putting the card back in. Fired it up and loaded no problem. Was then just a case of putting the media files/directories back on the card and back to normal. Only niggle is the wierd WIFI symbol that gets in the way on the menu screen - can only presume this is for a dsi. ianski.

Look at your card if it has V1.4 in a gold star on the front all you need to do is update the software with R4-R4i-English-V1.20b

I've just got the same check system date problem with my daughters r4 card. Couldn't find a solution, so i tried an experiment. I took everything except the roms directory off of the card. Then I loaded it up with the r4i stuff i got for the card i use in my dsi-xl because it's apparently backwards compatable. Now my daughters happily playing her ds again without any 'check nds date errors' causing tantrums.

This is just a temperary thing all you need to do is go into the menu (with out the r4card in the ds) and change the date back about a year. then it wont happen for a year but if you only put it back say 2 days the problem will come back in 2 days.
i hope this info was REALLY helpful
by the way this happened to me and i was relly worried but then i fixed it! YAY

First, delete the R4.dat file and the Moonshell folders.
Reinstall the original software.
If this does not work, delete those files again and download the newest software for your card and install them.
This problem is usually caused by nothig more than a corrupt file on the R4.

Had this problem - solution 7 above worked for me. Download the latest software from the R4 site and copy it onto your card. This took about 10 minutes to resolve !!!

I think the problem is with the latest kernel v1.20 , I downloaded a previous version v1.18b from the link suggested by keatan and it works fine no need to change dates at all. Thanks

In the case of the error code, something with either the system upon booting with the r4i card or a problem within the system. To fix, go to System Settings, or in the DS Lite's case Date & Time, and set up the date and time again. Restart the system, without the r4i card. If the message pops up again, there could be something wrong with your system, contact Nintendo Customer Support. If it doesn't, your r4i card may be corrupted by either a faulty download or by a virus. IF that's the case, I recommend just getting a new one rather than cleaning it out on the computer.
