SOURCE: Canon PIXMA iP1800 InkJet Photo Printer for windows 98

I think I will save you some time telling you that there is no driver for Pixma IP1800 running on Windows 98/ME.

The printer had been built to work on windows XP/Vista, and drivers for 98 were never made.

Here or here you find two of the many threads on Win 98 driver for Pixma IP1800, all of them end in nothing. I can speak portuguese, the links wrongly provided are drivers for XP, and won't work on 98, and there is also no brasilian website distributing drivers for this printer on win 98, that was just a legend.

This printer won't work on Windows 98.

Canon PIXMA ip1980 full ink absorber

This may clear the ink absorber.
There is ink absorbers located at both ends of the printerwhere the ink head move.
To dry the ink absorber, power up the printer and open the cover so the inkcartridges and print head will move to the middle of the printer.
Then take several sheets of absorbent tissue, fold it into a pad and place itinside the printer over the ink absorber on the far left hand side of theprinter to soak up the excess ink. You may need to change the absorbent tissuea few times. Then repeat the same procedure on the right hand ink absorber.
Closethe lid and the printer should now function normally.

Received a solution to replacing the ink absorber on my Pixma iP1800 printer, however, it did not tell me where the ink absorber is located and if it's something I can get to. Please advise.

When the printer is _NOT_ printing, where do the print-heads go? Correct! They go to where ink-absorbers let gravity drain the excess ink into the absorbers.

I have a Canon ip1800, which keeps coming up with the message," ink absorber is full" Please advice how to sort this problem. Thank you

The printer counts the number of prints and cleaning cycles and when you get that error you need a shop to replace the ink absorber pads and reset the counter so the error goes away. If you bypass the error, the ink will fill up and leak out or ruin the printer sensors. The absorbers cover the entire bottom of the printer and require complete disassembly to remove.

The ink absorber is almost full

The ink absorber is a custom-shaped felt pad inside the bottom of the printer - Its designed to sop up leftover ink from the wiping bar - its not easily replaceable by a novice - the best way is to send it to a canon repair center and have a new pad fitted - compare the price of a new machine though as they are construsted to be disposable now

hope this helps 8)
